Well, I can't say for sure, because I wasn't on set. But, I will say that when I rewatched the movie after watching the series, I got the DISTINCT feeling that the script was hacked to bits. That they had put in about a ZILLION rewrites, probably because they didn't "get it". I would be watching along and suddenly I could feel the "voice of Joss" reach through and slap me in the face, only to be pulled back in and shoved in a box and sat on.

The one guy they seemed to keep "right" was Luke Perry. He was VERY Angel/Spike-esque. And to some extent, they seemed to keep Merrick sort of "Watcherish". But, they didn't seem to "get" the idea.

I have no doubt the ACTUAL writing wasn't that bad. I think the REWRITES that seemed to swallow 90% of the story were bad.
 
I don't know if a movie would work. If it were a feature film think about how it would "look". It would just bother me that the movie would look so amazing compared to the show, which looks pretty cheap to me, and I think that would take me out of the story somehow. Silly, but whatever.

I'd prefer a resurrection of the show (which obviously would never ever happen), especially if it would de-canonize the comic books which based on what I've read of the plots are pretty effing retarded.
 
ACK! I forgot to mention something before! Now I have to do it TWICE!
