And there's another one. We are told repetitively the vetting process necessitates some sort of social interaction. Why?

What it is is it's one of those things where they think if they say it over and over again it will eventually become an ingrained truth, in lazier thinkers, and be passed on to the next one. Now me, I want to know why.
 
Well,n4h....you've mentioned Anne Kilkenny before in this thread. And there's a letter,said to be written by her,circulating about the internet.

Snopes.com(which is about as good as any that tracks urban myths)took a look at this,and other letters about Palin-and found out that it's the real deal.

(You will note that early on she talks about the whole "did Sarah give birth to Trig or not?" meme. She states unequivocally that it is Sarah's.)

Um . . . Clinton didn't exactly know Gore that well, either. He had, in fact met him . . . twice. Once when Gore was looking for endorsements for his Presidential run in '88 (and Clinton turned him down) and once when Clinton was interviewing for a VP. And JFK, from all reports, HATED Lyndon Johnson. I think it's less about choosing someone who can be your BFF OMGPON1ES! and more about choosing someone who balances your own views/experience and brings strengths that are your weaknesses. I think McCain's got that in Palin. And while I heartily disagree with everything the Obama camp stands for, I think Obama has that with Biden.

All humor aside though...that is the same letter I read, but it's not. It's been tweaked. You see that part that specifically says Trig is her baby? That wasn't there, and I'm not sure the line before it read exactly like that either. I remember something else, but I don't remember exactly what it was. I read it 3 or 4 times to be sure she was saying what I thought she was saying though. I read it on the same day I first saw the baby smear starting to pop up.

I always knew she was a resident of Alaska. She has a website promoting Alaska. I've been there. I still question whether or not she's been a resident of Wasilla since 1992 as she claims. She may be, but I question it. Even in Snopes you'll notice something curious if you read close. Snopes refers to her as a Wasilla resident, but their source for that only says, "she does live in Alaska", not "a Wasilla resident since 1992", which was the claim.

When the Sarah smears first started popping up the day following her announcement as VP, I started looking for actual information on those smears, but there wasn't a lot available. There was only the smears themselves. I tried joining a Sarah Palin forum, and asked if there was any possible rebuttal to those smears. The forum was based in Alaska. It's down now, but if it ever comes back, I'll give you a link.

Anyway there were a number of responses, but one came from a member claiming to be a resident of Wasilla (since childhood, I believe). She, like Kilkenny, also claimed to attend all the Wasilla town hall meetings. She says she'd never heard of Anne Kilkenny before reading about her on the internet. This is a small town of, I believe 9,500 people. She says there may be an Anne Kilkenny in Wasilla, but she's never heard of her. She also goes into the allegations made by Kilkenny, and her story is different.

All well and good....

but,n4h...don't you guys have an election of your own to deal with,BESIDES ours? 😉

(Kidding aside,I wish this country adopted the system that virtually every other country does with its elections-paper and pencil. None of these optical scanners,touchscreens,etc....which have error rates of about 2% depending on the system used. Think of it...the election's decided within hours instead of days! What a novel idea! And,for the record,I have no dog in the fight up there-and I'd LOVE to see how Frank magazine is covering it. (For the unitiated,Frank magazine can best be compared to a British magazine,called Private Eye,that trains its sights on those in power. They do the same,but with a lot of childish and sick humor. Which may be the reason why I like it so much. Just remember....more Canadians get their news from Frank than from any other source-including the CBC,CTV and Global networks. 😀 ))

Politics,no matter the country,is ALWAYS entertaining. IMO,the best form of free entertainment out there.

Wikipedia has an entry on Frank...just go to their page and type in Frank magazine. (And their entry will show you the people who have been POed by stuff the magazine printed. There's quite a few.)

Their homepage is home . Sadly,most of it is subscription only.

A good bookstore or newsstand should carry the magazine.

As for knowing about the election: I do know the major players in Canadian politics,and some of the issues,but not enough to form opinions on them.

Well hasn't this been a hoot and a half to read😛

I must say I have been living, socialising and breathing British Politics for the last year pretty much all the time, being an active member of the Conservative, so I have been kept abreast of the US ongoings.

While I hold a belief to a certain extent that countries should try and stay out of other countries internal political I feel that the good ol' US of A is slightly different being that it is, currently (that is until China starts whooping everyones ass), THE country everyone should have interest in.

My personal view, I like Palin, I think McCain (man I want some ovenchips) has made a wise choice.
I don't think it is a negative she is an unknown quantity, in fact this could work out in her favour over time - epecially if she goes all 'Geena Davis' on us.

I've never been a fan of Obama, in fact I favoured Hillary (shoot me).

I have pretty much agreed with everything that N4H has said (which is odd) and absolutely concur with the smear stuff.

Time will tell folks, I really am waiting for the face to face debates - that will be a hoot and a half.

Sarah Palin finally got a chance to respond to the attacks and smears made against her in an interview with the Fox network's Sean Hannity.

Fox is generally thought of as partisan right, just as MSNBC is generally thought of as partisan left, however, you won't get a chance to see Sarah's side of the story on the American mainstream. Not even the one's which lay claim (I suggest without justification) to being bi-partisan such as CNN. You have to go to Fox. So here's a YouTube link to the part of the interview where Palin addresses the attacks made against her. She's got class.
