Uh...MSNBC leans to the left? Not as long as Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough(among others)are there,it isn't. And try as hard as the right does to claim otherwise,Chris Matthews ain't a lefty, either.

And SPEAKING of that interview...

YouTube - Fox interview with Palin owned

(WARNING: One of George Carlin's "7 Words You Can Never Say On Television" is said in this clip. If hearing such words offends you, don't click it.)

And while we're at it,time for someone to pay the piper....

YouTube - Countdown: Palin's Lies

If Chris Matthews isn't left, Glen Beck isn't right. Actually the only difference there is Beck, at least, has the gumption to openly admit what side he's on.

And those vids from MSNBC's other prime example of what side of the political teeter-totter they're on is once more nothing more than twisted smears, and I can find similar smear vids on Obama with a couple of easy clicks. I'll prove it if you like. Do you want me to? Oh wait, I just remembered this one I saw earlier today. It isn't even a smear vid. It's an actual vid showing how popular Obama is not becoming with some black voters. You won't see this one on MSNBC.

Breitbart.tv Interrupt Campaign Rally

Concerning the Fox news soft-ball questions. Sure they are, but show me a recent Obama interview where he's gotten anything harder. In fact show me an Obama interview like the grilling Palin agreed to from Charlie Gibson. That took guts. She knew what was coming, agreed to it, and handled it pretty well. I'd like to see Obama do as well, but of course it will never happen, because between Palin and Obama she's the one with the proven testicular fortitude.

Three words: The. O'Reilly. Factor.

That enough of an answer?

And here's another thought/question: If we're going to be electing a new President, shouldn't both sides of the ticket be willing and able to grant interviews with any news organization, any time(schedule permitting)-preferably with a national news organization,so as to provide the voting public with as much information as possible? (Local news organizations tend to be more star struck than national ones, since they don't see said candidates as much. And this should only be one tool that the voter uses.) And having asked that question, let me pose another: Why is Sarah Palin still being cocooned by the McCain campaign? What, exactly, does she have to hide?(Much as you may not like it being asked,n4h,it is a valid question when you factor in McCain's physical health and more recent mental confusion on the campaign tour.)

Two more things: 1. You call it smears. I call it direct quotes. And on that point,we will never agree. (Which is fine. That's why it's called debate.) 2. You referenced Jerome Corsi's book earlier on in this thread. Were you aware that he had to make 11 corrections for the latest printing of his book? This after saying "oh,everything in there is accurate;the Obama campaign didn't prove anything was wrong." And he's lied about that, too. Also,he's continued peddling the story that Obama's birth certificate is fake-even when others on the right,no less, have said that it was authentic.

See now Corsi, I threw him in because the way I saw it he was doing what the left was doing. Taking stuff out of context, warping factoids, and such. You know, like what Olberman was doing in those videos. My opinion was you needed to see how anybody could do that from either side, so I gave you Corsi. There's nothing from those 2 videos I can't rebut with larger collections of in-context facts, just as Corsi can be rebutted, but before it can be done the smear has already happened.

On the cocooning Sarah thing, I want to take it out of debate mode for a sec and slip it into curiosity mode. There's things I can't really get a feel for, because I don't have access to direct American media the way you do. For example we get Fox TV, but we don't get the news features you guys do like Hannity. We don't get MSNBC at all, to tell you the truth. I just know it from what I see on Newsbusted.org. MSNBC is all over there. It's a right wing site that monitors liberal media. They do a weekly news comedy show too. You won't like it, but you should check it out as an oddity if you've never seen it.

YouTube - newsbusted's Channel

Oh but, anyway, back to cocooning Sarah. There's a lot I don't get about that. I mean I imagine there's a certain amount of that with Obama too. Not so much with Biden. I imagine they'd be happy to get him airtime anywhere if they could. But yeah you're not going to see Sarah being interviewed by Matthews, or Olberman, or Maher anymore than you'll see Obama be interviewed by Limbaugh, or Beck. But the borderline stuff, I don't get that either. Why wouldn't they let her do something like Larry King. I mean, yeah King does seem to lean left a little, but I don't see him taking cheap shots like what Gibson did. Anyway, I thought she handled Gibson pretty well. I don't see her having any problems with Larry. So why wouldn't they let her do it. There wouldn't be any problems getting her on, I'm sure, and it would be exposure (not that she needs any). Maybe that's it. She doesn't really need exposure, so why take chances.

Oh, but what I wanted to ask about was media scrums. I saw this one where these three media guys were standing at an airport shouting questions at her, and her handlers were shuffling her off. Is that sort of thing normal? We don't see any Obama media scrums up here. Does he do them? Is that kind of Britney with the paparazzi thing normal for political canditates? Well, only 3 managed to break through, but you get my point right? The aggressiveness. Does Obama let the media mob at him to ask questions at the airport? I know it sounds like I'm just trying to be clever, but my basic curiosity is sincere. I want to know how much access the media has to Obama. I can't tell from up here.

n4h: Canada's satellite services have MSNBC on their channel lineups,as do at least one cable provider(Rogers;on its digital cable lineup only)-so there's no excuse on that issue. Same with Fox News.

Newsbusted....smells to me that it's a project of the Media Research Center, which budgets a whole crapload of money(in the millions of dollars per year)to prove its own canard that the media is biased towards the left. And they do that....providing they skip over all the details, etc. Kinda like setting up your own game by your own narrowly defined rules.

There's a lot more people out there than just Corsi and(as you see it)Olbermann doing this. It's just that a lot more of them are on the right(and thus, they're the ones getting more airtime and ink to give their takes-which,repeated enough, become part of the conventional wisdom).

In my opinion Sarah Palin is nothing more than a campaign strategy and I cannot get behind her because of that. Truth is I wouldnt anyway because I am a democrat so GO OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, I would just like to apologise for taking this off topic, but there has been a claim in this thread which is a malicious lie and I would just like to address it.

PS - hehe Schillaci is a queen😛

You liar, you big fat(no offense..lol) liar! I am not, nor have I ever been, a queen. Yes, I may have greeted you with a slightly homosexual 'hello'. And yes, I may have referred to myself as a queen in this topic, but I feel my statements have been completley taken out of context. For the record, I have never had sexual intercourse with a man, I've never even kissed a man. I have, however, had sexual intercourse with possibly over 100 women. The exact number is currently unknown, but 'we're' working on that. So.. see, I aint no bum bandit, shirt lifting, toe sucking, fudge packer. Its all just a conspiracy by the tobacco companies to muddy my near perfect reputation.

I've never been a fan of Obama, in fact I favoured Hillary (shoot me).

Now, just to take my post into a less serious position(loooool), I too would have preferred Mrs Clinton. While I have some issues with McCain, I cannot stand Obama, and everything he says.

I like Hil because of somme of the opinions she has, and some of the things she has said, I completely agree with.

Plus? She's married to a certain mr Bill Clinton. Who is most awesome in my eyes. Its true that I don't, or I didnt agree with some of his policies and he and his time in office certainly wasn't perfect, but..

This guy got brought before the grand jury about his denial of recieving a blow job. What a ****ing rockstar! When that story broke, my admiration for Bill bust out of the stratosphere. PLus who remembers his awesome, " Yes, but to answer the question we have to come to a decision on what the definition of is, is" < Not a direct quote, just going on memory.

Come on, man..

Fricken Obama.

So to sum up, I ain't no red meat lover, I do gots me some issues though. I would have much preferred hil to oBAMa, and ol' Bill is a rockstar.

Normal service can now resume.

Not according to my TV Guide they don't (cable providers, I mean. I don't have satellite). I think they may be available in Eastern Canada though.

I can't really deal in rumors and suspicions. Show me a reliable source saying Newsbusted is publicly funded, and I'll give you a reaction.

It's a matter of perspective, I think. From your side you see more on the right getting all the media (new and old) for smears. From my side I see more stilted media, and smears coming from the left. Did you watch that Hannity interview with Sarah I posted? Did you see the statistics he gave? Apparently there are others who see it my way as well.

And keep this thread on topic guys. There's enough problems with political discussions, we don't have to go looking for trouble. (no CKG, I'm not talking to you there)

Is you giving me a slap on the wrist? Come on, its a bit transparent, no?

OK, I believe Sarah Palin is a bit gay. The coming American election is bit gay. Furthermore, I believe all american politicians to be a bit gay.

I have no reputable sources to back up my claims. The truth is, I am going completely on personal opinion with this one.

I just get that vibe, y'know.

By the way, you want to discuss politics? I notice you ignored what I have posted in this topic.

So, if I is to suggest that your parents are republicans, simply in a way so that I can better understand voting trends, and general politics, and you ignore this, is this cos you is an ignorant, arrogant twat, or is it because your parents are republicans and you are simply opting not to answer?

On an (almost) completely unrelated side note . . . I passed the "Straight Talk Express" on the way home from work today. 😀 Unfortunately, there are no windows on that bus, so I couldn't make funny faces at McCain.

Okay, I am going to say this once, and once only.

Stay on topic. Stop attacking people.

Just because n4h is a mod that does not give you free reign to make comments about him and completely disregard when he says to you to stop hijacking the thread with pointless chit chat garbage. Enough is enough.

Karma for stepping in and playing cop!
I apologise for any remarks that I may have made that were offensive and/or insulting, and to anybody that I may have made offensive and/or insulting comments to.

Just because n4h is a mod that does not give you free reign to make comments about him and completely disregard when he says to you to stop hijacking the thread with pointless chit chat garbage. Enough is enough.

I would just like to add that this should work both ways. Just because a person is a moderator it shouldn't give them free reign to insult whoever they want, or give them free reign to make offensive comments towards any of the members of the forum on which they are being asked to moderate....

Anyway, regarding Sarah Palin, since this topic is about her. I think I saw a video(I have no idea where, or what it might be called), where she was asked several questions about her pro-life stance, and her answers were pretty unsatisfactory.

She was asked if a person had been raped, and become pregnant, does she think in that instance it would be okay for the person to have an abortion. Being a somewhat controversial, or perhaps heated is a better term, being a heated issue, she tried, rather badly, to not directly answer the question. And answer with, she believes in the sanctity of life, etc etc.

Really this is a whole other subject. But I've always hated the pro-life argument, because it is intrinsically, anti choice.

Anyway, assuming the video I am referring to wasn't doctored, I think, while its only one issue, it is an important one. And her belief on the issue is one to greatly consider when you are analysing her, and analysing whether you would want her to be vice-president or not.

Edit: Also, just to add that I see no problem in asking anybody which way their parents lean politically, or leaned when they were alive.

1) If you find a post by a moderator, or another member, to be personally insulting/offensive, please use the report post feature.

2) Asking someone whether their parents are Republican is one thing, suggesting they are an "ignorant, arrogant twat" is quite another. As is belittling someone who is trying to do their job, as well as completely ignoring what they just asked of you as part of that job.

To follow up on BuffySummers' post earlier: I'm active on quite a few other BBs,and on at least one we have a policy of "attack the post,NOT the poster." And I do my best to uphold it.

Trust me,I've seen threads that have gone off the rails badly.

I don't really like mccain, and that's after all who you guys are voting for. It's strange to vote for someone because you like his running mate, right? Or am I missing something important here?
I like Obama, but that's just personal. I don't know about him being unexperienced, but I do think that he knows more about the avarage american citizen than mccain, and that's also important. And I trust him more, with being president of the most important country in the world than Bush. But, I also trust mccain more with that.
Anyway, I'm not american so as long as they don't start bombing Europe and do something about the chaos and poverty (all relative of course) in some parts of the country, I'm okay with it ^^

America is NOT the most important country in the world. What would ever give you that idea?

It is one of the most powerful - if not the most powerful but that probably won't last forever.

Also, understanding the 'average American' might have something to do with the job BUT that is far from key to the role of President.

I do find it difficult to argue the experience because, quite frankly, none of the candidates have run a country before.

Having said that, there are numerous other ways these guys can show experience.

In an ideal world, neither of these candidates would be running and none of them, in my opinion, are fit for the job BUT McCain/Palin seem a far better fit than Obama/Biden.

Well I'm not that petty(currently).

I don't particularly agree with your interpretation of my post before last, but what I was trying to make clear, and obviously failed to do, was highlight that I was only apologising for the manner in which I asked the question, not apologise for the question itself. Though I do have issue with people who think using adjectives that are in the dictionary to describe people is wrong, without supplying any supporting evidence that said adjectives should be removed from current dictionaries because of the corrupting, negative influence these words have on society. One only has to read certain posts of mine that highlight my problem with censorship issues that serve no function whatsoever beyond giving people the illusion of control. Ultimately, it boils down to a simple case of, 'I speak english, words in my language are begin censored, I have yet to see one reasonable explanation why'.

In an ideal world, neither of these candidates would be running and none of them, in my opinion, are fit for the job BUT McCain/Palin seem a far better fit than Obama/Biden.

Come on..? Ok, you've been working with the tories for a year, right? And right, is where ye be leaning, correct?

I've already said that I'm not a fan of Obama, I would have much preferred Hilary Clinton as the Democratic candidate, but..

My problems with Obama are that he sometimes seems naive in his approach, ie - he doesn't understand thta everything he says will be analyzed, won't be taken at face value, and will be used by the opposition to try exploit any weakness, real or imagined..

This bugs me because the guy was a lawyer, which is apparent in the way he answers questions, and his speeches. Impeach this guy, and I think he could give Clinton a run for his money( With a little more experience).

However, some of the problems I have with Obama doesn't even come close to the simple fact the OcCain is absoluely brainless. This guy makes Bush look like a genius.

And Palin? She makes McCain look like a genius. That's how dumb she is. I can't wait for the VP debate where Biden will expose this dumbass entirely and completely.

I agree that in an ideal world neither of these candidates would be elected, but lets toss political alliances aside, and be honest for a minute.

At the very very least, Obama might accomplish nothing s president, but I know, without giving it any thought whatsoever, that worldwide feeling for america will increase with this guy as president. In today's climate, this is vitally important. With McCain as president, and 'god' forbid this does happen, but if he was president, and died, and Palin stepped into his place, you really think either of these two could raise global feeling on America? (Just in case you take this post at face value, and anybody decides to answer it, how about a little judgement and honesty?)

Where's the choice in the poll that says "I'm not voting republican" that doesn't have some lame as stab at the democratic party?
Sorry, biased poll...
