Sarah Signs for Teenage Mutant Turtles

Someone explain this to me. SMG wouldn't do the voice of Buffy in Buffy animated, but she will do the voice of the Teenage Mutant Turtles sidekick.

Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Grudge, and TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has signed on as the voice of April, the human researcher who serves as the Turtles' tech-services worker and mother figure. Fantastic Four's Chris Evans is the hockey-stick-swinging Casey Jones, and Clerks filmmaker Kevin Smith also voices a cameo as a greasy-spoon chef.

Speaking of voices, SMG did a voice role for the upcoming "Happily N'Ever After", the animated movie in which the voice of her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. can also be heard.

I think it's just the same old story - SMG's selection just has to do with her continuing desire to put some distance between herself and her most famous role.

May she get her wish, and always be known as Daphne from Scooby Doo then. :(
As an actor you must get restless playing the same character for several years. I'm sure the money involved plays a part in her decisions.. Or maybe it is a commitment thing. The turtles gig is smaller, it's not as stressful and time consuming as lead role.

Ah, it don't matter. Sarah's still cool. I kinda want to see TMNT now, too...lol.

Sarah wants change most likely.. to do something different rather than doing Buffy which has she has done for several years.. i mean.. if i were her i would want change too..

and watcher1006 i just saw the trailer in the cinema the other day for Happily N'Ever After... and it does look like your same old story.. but you know i have to see it cos SMG is in it :silly:

I saw the trailer when I went to see the new "Charlotte's Web" with Dakota Fanning (had to see that one - I have fond memories of the book and the Peter Pan in me will never die.) I will probably go see "Happily N'Ever After" - I think this genre of movie can be a lot of fun if it's done right.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's voice is very recognizable but there wasn't that much of it in the trailer.

yeah, i was like, um your saying the main characters are SMG and Freddi Prince Jr yet they arent showing much of SMG's character!! ah well.. im a big fan of kids movies so i will go and see it 🙂

Its odd. I have this... temperamental memory. There are a lot of black holes. I don't think I remember a single thing between the ages of 17 and 20, but I remember watching the film adaptation of Charlottes Web when I was 5. I remember quite clearly trying hopelessly to hold back my tears at the end so the other kids couldn't see.

RIP CHARLOTTE!

Yes indeed, long live Charlotte!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Tirtles, eh ? Well not much chance of me going to see that one. If there were any kids in my family that were of and age maybe. But kids or not I'm going to Charlottes Web. Very different.

There's a pictorial preview along with a link to the trailer Here. The release date is March 23 2007.

I loved TMNT when I was growing up, but yeah I don't get what her deal is. I can see she wouldn't want to be constantly be known as 'Buffy' her entire acting career, but it dissapoints me as a fan. An older more mature actor like James and Nick have no issue voicing their characters or doing DVD interviews, but having said that I respect her for doing Buffy for seven years.

It annoys me that David B. doesn't seem to appreciate the role that got him so many fans as well. I can understand why these two want to move on but they're insulting the people that made them big and showed them so much support.

I think I love you for that. I couldn't have said it better.

I also understand that she doesn't want to be Buffy for the rest of her career. I get that, seriously. But COME. ON. Agreeing to do one Buffy-esque thing and placating the PEOPLE THAT MADE YOU FAMOUS wouldn't be such a bad thing.

That said, I was never such a big fan of her in the first place. She thinks too highly of herself and her acting. Note to SMG: You're not that cool. plz get over urself thx.

I'm gonna pull you up on this.
I wish people would stop having ago at certain actors because they want a career.
How many here have tuck with the same job for 8 years?
Are they not entitled to move on. Its not like they have decided to quit from the screen, take their money and laugh at fans. They have moved on to other things.

So they don't want to continue returning to the thing that truly started their career...big deal.

You want your 'DB' fix, watch Bones. Its entertaining enough and as for Sarah, well she has plenty of work in the cinema.

I don't hear much 'Joss' hate.

The studios WANTED to make a TV Movie/Spin-off, they wouldn't have released stuff saying this if they weren't interested. Reading between the lines though, they wanted Joss on board more than others.

He was the one who could have made it happen, but he decided to pass that on to someone else(fair game a Whedonverse Alumni).

I think anyone who complains that an actor(who gave 8 years to something) is just being petty.

Yes, it would be nice if they did a reunion, BUT the leads are truly busy at the moment and honestly, I think i've seen enough of Buffy and Angel anyway. Get over it people.

I think getting over SMG would be a good idea. I'm one of those few who would like to see Buffy move to the big screen with a new actress.

BotD, I have no problem with SMG wanting a career. She can do all the movies or whatever she wants, but the fact of the matter is she wants NOTHING to do with Buffy. AT ALL. And that, my friend, is a slap in face. She shuns anything to do with the franchise and personally, I think that's wrong. She doesn't have to do everything they asked, but she purposefully distanced herself, even while the show was on the air.

My problem here is with her attitude. I stated earlier that she I think she thinks to highly of herself and her worth in Hollywood. I don't think she an awesome actress or even a fantastic person so if they ended up getting someone else to play Buffy, I'd be all for it. I just don't like how she dismisses things like they don't matter anymore, and Buffy surely mattered to her. Or it should have, at any rate.

I'm not trying to start anything, I just don't feel I explained myself clearly enough.
