No, you didn't, but now what you have explained is utterly stupid(remember I like you).
Your comments are based entirely on assumption of press comments made by others and a probable personal dislike for SMG.

When she did 'Friday Night with Johnathan Ross' back in 2004 she was very nice.
She didn't seem phased by the Buffy questions and when someone thinks they are 'bigger' then they are they DON'T give anecdotes about going to the toilet.

I think people should listen more to what teh actors say and not the people who surround her or are jealous.

She has spent 7 years on one character, she is not wrong for wanting to distance herself from that.
She doesn't want to do a movie, or a spin-off(just yet).
She doesn't want to do conventions either.
Big deal.
She gave us all teh character of Buffy, of which I think she did a good job. She entertained us and even felt deeply enough about her character to voice opposition to storylines if she felt they were against what the character would do.

Sarah Michelle Gellar will never be a great actress, but she is competant and i've NEVER seen her think herself better than she is.

I wasn't having "a go" at them because they "want a career". If they really did appreciate those roles they wouldn't act like they were trying to forget them. No one cares if they move on, but people do care when they act like those roles meant nothing to them. I want them both to be successful, but it bothers me when David gets so upset when someone even MENTIONS his role as "Angel".

Although I bet Sarah would eventually return as Buffy if the occasion showed itself, if her movie career continues to be so lame...none of her movies have done very well lately.
 
Picture the scene.
You've spent 8 years as one character.
Every interview, fan or personality you have been on/with/met has asked you about that one character.
Then you leave the show because it ends AND you get a new role in something else.
You want to talk about that BUT everyone keeps going back to that thing you've talked to death.

Now, imagine thats David Boreanaz and you can completely understand why he doesn't want to talk about Angel.
 
You explained the David B thing quite well, I can see why he'd want to shift away from being just Angel, especially when his new show is going really well. I don't have a huge issue with David B (or anyone really) because at least he did DVD interviews, audio commentary, conventions with James etc... and lots more when the show was on and over, he seems like a generous person to me and not at all ashamed of his work on BtVS/Angel.

And yes we're all grateful that SMG spent some much time playing Buffy (and I actually think she's an awesome actress... especially in seasons 2 and 5), but she shunned her BtVS fans in lots of ways. And that's my opinion from noticing all the ways every other actor/producer/writer was willing to do outside of their job on the show. Oh well :eviltongu

I was using DB as a model for SMG as well.
I find this comment a little strange, simply because you've said its ok for David to do it but not SMG.

I'd like to know in what ways SMG has shunned her fans, because i've seen her plenty of times(in interviews and on 'red carpets') and she doesn't shy away from Buffy. She seems to respect her fans but wants a career away from Buffy.
The worst thing that can happen to an actor who has ambition is 'type casting'.
If you constantly associate SMG with Buffy, alot of doors will close for her.
 
Let's think about this for a second before we get on Sarah's case, and David's, however that came into discussion.

Sarah is a talented actress and David is a talented actor. They're trying to further their career but every single time they try nobody cares, because all they want to know about is Buffy and Angel.

So, for a while, they're polite and answer the questions about Buffy and Angel. But then, even after doing more TV shows and films to add onto that, they still can't move out of the shadow of the Buffy and Angel shows.

You'd be pretty pissed too if nobody gave a damn about the stuff you were working really hard on at the moment and instead kept asking about the same stuff you did for seven seasons. I've never really seen an interview with Sarah that talked about any of her other roles apart from Daphne in Scooby Doo and whoever she was in The Grudge (I've never seen The Grudge, I mean to). And as for David, the few interviews I've found were about just his time on Buffy and Angel.

He's quite right to be annoyed with it now, and so is she. That being said though, it would be nice if she could do the voice of Buffy, but you have to respect her decision to get on with other things.

Let's compare the worldwide box office performance of Gellar's last four films (I haven't included 'Happily N'Ever After' because it is an animated film) with those of her contemporary Reese Witherspoon, who is one of the biggest female film stars working in Hollywood.

Gellar:

Total: $433,380,546 divided by 4 = $108,345,136 (average)

Gellar is not "A-list", unlike Witherspoon, an Academy Award winning actress who receives a lot of critical support. However, whatever you happen to think of the quality of Gellar's films, she carries some degree of clout at the box office - and that is the bottom line for the studios.

I can fully understand why she would want to distance herself from her signature role, quite apart from the fact that I think a feature film version of 'Buffy' would probably be a non-starter at this stage. She is looking to prolong her career and that won't happen if she simply relies on 'Buffy' to sustain it. For seven years she played the role brilliantly and that is good enough for me.
 
I don't know if I could explain more, it's just my personal impression that Sarah was largely not interested in giving Buffy interviews/commentaries/conventions etc, when she was willing to do so on other projects which include Scooby Doo. I don't live in America (often 😛) so I probably missed a lot of Buffy related interviews etc, I can understand her point of view but it just disapointed me as a fan that I didn't see more, that's it.
