Sarah The Demon Fighter

The entertainment industry has seen more than a few actors who seem to have their most success playing one particular type of part, so, one role that they are always associated with, So this is my question.

Considering the fact that Sarah has had less that stellar success with anything that she has done since "Buffy" ended, do you think that she would be have better luck simply biting the bullet and coming back to a role more familiar, and popular, to her fans? I'm not talking about returning as Buffy, because Joss just isn't going to do that anytime soon, but maybe as a character in another series with a supernatural format, like maybe Anita Blake, or something like "Teen Wolf" or "The Dresden Files" (which is probably a bad example, since it only lasted a single season)

Yes, I quite agree with this, obviously from a POV of us fans. But I think that Sarah, as well as other actors, feels the need to explore other aspects of acting. It's hard to distance from a role as "cumbersome" (unwieldy?) as Buffy the vampire slayer. David Boreanaz was able to do it and even Angel was a role rather "cumbersome" I think that for Sarah, be locked only in super heroines roles, it would be a bit of a defeat. I believe she is able to do also other things.

Well maybe she doesn't need the all the agro of acting as she doesn't need the money anymore? Maybe she's nolonger into seeking out certain roles because she doesn't need to and lest face it the competition is touch out there at the moment.

So many jobbing actors out of work these days. Most are lucky to get what they can sadly let alone have the luxury of choosing a role.

Sarah gets a lot of hate from people, for turning her back on her fans, for not sticking with what she knows, for trying for roles that are different to Buffy, for not taking roles at all. There was even some hate directed at her for the audacity to have kids! It doesn't matter what she does, she's one of those people who will always have some sort of hate or criticism directed at her, no matter what.

If she took on another role in the same area as Buffy, people will just shout about her trying to relive her glory days.

If Sarah wants to take on a role similar to Buffy, that's her choice. But she shouldn't do it to please fans or to try and give her career a boost. She and Freddie seem fairly content with their lives, taking on roles that are interesting to them and roles that they want to do. They're not doing it for the money or the fame. And I love that about them.

I have mixed feelings on this. I imagine it has been very hard for Sarah to go on with her career after embodying such an iconic character. Like it or not, she will always be known as and associated with Buffy, but I definitely applaud her for branching out into other genres and trying new types of roles.

I'm glad SMG has tried new things and I hope she continues to do so. I'd hate if the studios owned actors again and chose their roles for them. What roles was SMG in before she chose do do Buffy?
Of course an argument could be made for an actor to be contracted to a studio, take Tom Cruise for instance - please!

You know I'd love to see her in the supernatural format again... if it was a good role. But then I'd love to see her in pretty much anything, as long as it's a good role 🙂 I like that she has branched out but if she would take a quasi-Buffy role for a show she believed in then I'm all for it. It wouldn't be Buffy and I think she could find a nuance to separate the roles even if they would be similar.

I think Sarah is in the same position as William Shatner, who has 216 acting credits but will always be known as Captain Kirk on Star Trek where he was in the last 79 of the 80 shows, and he was in the Star Trek movies. Regardless of what he does in his career (he has 216 acting credits), he will always be Captain Kirk, just like Sarah will always be Buffy.

There seems to be a trend for actors who no longer need the money to go into half-hour TV shows as Alison Hannigan did on "How I Met Your Mother" to have more time for their families. Sarah wants to raise her children rather than farming them out to someone else? Good for her! It shows her priorities are in the right place.

Sarah seems to pick projects based on the cast she will be working with as evidenced by selecting Robin Williams. This may not be as good an idea as selecting the best story lines and writers, but who am I to say? Sarah has 47 acting credits and has proven everything she needs to prove. If I were in her position, I would go for something with the strongest story line and best writers.

SMG could do anything and I'd watch it. I really liked 'The Crazy Ones'. I love when Sarah does comedy, I think it's hilarious! I like to watch her interviews on talk shows, shes soo funny! I think it'd be great if she returned to horror/supernatural stuff but I don't care either way. I think it's great that she is such an amazing mom and wife.

As for William Shatner. I had no idea he'd done that much acting but I do love his role in 'Miss Congeniality'.

I'd love to see Sarah in another supernatural role, but unlike the people that attack her, I know it's her choice.

It's a fact she'll always be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I'm glad that she's embracing the role now on Twitter. That doesn't mean she deserves the label or typecast (though badass heroine isn't a bad one to have). She's played several roles successfully. The normal teenage girl that isn't stupid (Cici and Helen Shivers), the seductive, even evil minx in Cruel Intentions, and she grew into comedy in The Crazy Ones.

Buffy will always overshadow all her other characters, no matter how well she plays them, unless the unforeseen happens.
