Sarah to Star in Alice

Universal Pictures has signed Sarah Michelle Gellar to star in ALICE, which is based on the EA videogame created by American McGee. Marcus Nispel will direct. Erich and Jon Hoeber wrote the script.

This twisted take on Lewis Carroll's classic "picks up Alice after her home has been destroyed and family killed. The sole survivor of the disaster, she returns to a dark and threatening Wonderland where she must confront her fears before returning to her normal life."
 
That is awesome! I've never really looked forward to a SMG movie before... Not in a while atleast, but this one sounds pretty interresting and different... Definately got my attention 🙂
 
Oh my, I played that game, it's so good! I'm really looking forward to this movie.
 
This sound amazing. I'm really excited now. It seems like this could actually be a movie that will resemble a.... um.... movie(?) I will be the first to admit that I am a huge Sarah fan, but the roles that have been chosen lately just seem to be roles.... this one actually seems like it's going to have some depth and action in it.

Definitely! This seems like a solid role.
Oh, I really hope this becomes as good as it actually sounds like it could be... Sarah can be a great actress when she gets the chance to show it and she really deserves to be in a good movie for a change, heh... Looking forward to this..
 
My former house mate played this game obsessively a few years back and I thought the dark take on Wonderland was very cool. It was like Disney on acid with a crack chaser. The Chessire Cat is completly punked out with an earring and an attitude. Hope they do a good job on this and not screw it up like other movies based on video games.
 
If it hadn't been reported by BBC and others, I'd never have believed it. Really unlikely choice for SMG... Still, could be interesting. From what I know of American McGee's Alice, the gameplay is awful, but the style is terrific so it might translate well to film.
 
Girl done got typecasted....

While Sarah may escape the tragedy of being referred to as "Buffy" instead of her real name, it seems like these are the only roles she will be getting. Or extremely bad romantic comedies. I don't see why, though. She is an amazing actress and nice to look at.
 
Let's hope that this seriously works out for her. I do love every appearance that she makes, but I'm ready for the girl to win an Oscar or something! 🙂
 
Hmm definitely an interesting choice...I love Lewis Carrol..though I'm not familiar with the game at all.
 
What's the big deal? Sarah's never done anything good besides Buffy (and a lot of it was pretty bad) and SNL. This doesn't sound like it's gonna improve her track record. She should get breast implants, divorce Prinze, and beg Whedon for a decent role in his next project.

Get breast implants...that's rather childish. What does that have to do with anything at all?

Please try to refrain from comments that you know will be purposefully inflamatory.
 
I think She made a great choice being in this movie.
Sarah said that She was happy that because of Buffy now she won't have to play the male's girlfriend on the movies, and that She can play strong female characters and action roles.
I think She's right it's very hard for women to play main characters on movies specially in action movies, so Sarah is making a difference.

I agree. I think it's better for her to take a chance with movies that are different than what she has done before or what anyone has really done before. Southland Tales seems really interesting and different and I'm sure Alice is going to be different too.
