BBC Cult has the following story today, culled from the Daily Express newspaper -

Sarah Michelle Gellar is looking for a record deal.

The Daily Express reports that Gellar could be the next Dido, if her mission to secure a record deal is a success.

"I have written quite a few numbers and I'm looking for the right record deal," says Gellar.

"I want to show the world the other side of me and I think I have a similar sound to Dido, so look out for me."

Personally, just one Dido is more than enough for me - does the World really need another? Now if SMG was aiming to be the new Joni Mitchell or even Buffy St Marie...😉

I don't remember seeing anything to say she hated doing OMWF but I got the impression that others enjoyed it a lot more 😉 I guess things would seem different if she's performing her own songs. Although, I have to say that I would've said (from what I do remember from watching OMWF) that several other cast members had much better singing voices than Sarah - though that's a matter of personal taste I guess 🙂
 
Her next movie is an (part)musical and she doesn't want to sing in it. And this news comes again from the British tabloid Daily Express, just like the Sabrina, Holly Valance rumors.


An this rumors started right after The musical. They are saying for years that she want to make cd. She even mad fun of this rumor on Saturday Night Live.

And she said a few weeks ago:

SMG says: Oh you are too kind! I will leave that only for the shower.

Hm. I'm not sure I think it's such a great idea. Sarah's got a nice voice, no doubt about that but... Why can't she just stick to acting? She's so good at it. I kinda see a disaster coming ahead. I don't get why all singers have to make movies and vice versa.
 
I'm just going to say that I'm very sceptical about the entire thing. 😀
 
I don't think her voice is all that great and I think she knows it. If she were to launch a CD it would be detrimental to her career. Plus the fact that she wouldn't sing in Southland tales, is a bit unconvincing of the CD rumour.
 
But you know...with the kind of digital performance enhancement that's possible these days, lack of singing talent doesn't seem to be the music career killer it once was. It hasn't hurt Hilary Duff or Ashlee Simpson's music career.

I also tend to distrust Daily Express rumours, but this one does seem possible.

Realistically though, it's probably something like the Buffy as Bond rumour where Sarah said something as a joke, and it was taken out of context.

Isn't the Daily Express responsible for the rumour where some British boy band guy was saying he was thinking of writing a script that was kind of like a male BTVS, then the Express headlined a story that said something like a Buffy series was coming where Buffy would be replaced by a male slayer.

SMG: That was the most miserable experience of my entire life, because I am a perfectionist. I don't do anything unless I can train for months and months and months and we got that script three weeks out. Plus I had no days off and I would leave work and take a singing lesson and go to the dance class. To me that should've been the first episode after a three month hiatus when you could've been ready and I'm done with that, boy. So no, I will not be singing in Southland Tales.

But...if it is...then I hope it isnt true, lol...

No offence to Sarah...but I dont think her voice is like...ground-breaking...

If anyone should start a musical career...it should be Amber!

Right on there old buddy! I second that. Amber's voice is far superior. I hope this isn't true.

EDIT: Just watched that vid of her hosting saturday night live... that was just embarrassing!
 
I'm jumping on 'this is a false rumor' bandwagon. Because of the source, and also Sarah seems to smart to fall into the actress turned singer cliche.
 
I'm definitely thinking this is a false rumor...she really doesn't have a strong voice...and it seems she didn't like singing in OMWF, so I really doubt this.

I'm gonna be completelyhonest. Sarah sucked at singing in OMWF, IMO. 😉 I really can't see her making her own CD. I just can't. Even with all of the technology nowadays, I really don't think it would be that good. 🙂
But I do admit, I'd buy it anyway 😛

Speaking of that, did you hear this message board rumour:

The Bensons are going to be sending a CD of two of Amber's orginal songs as a thank you to everyone who has purchased a Triangle Tara action figure. Amber is recording two tracks in the studio with Aaron (composer for Chance) right now.

I didn't really like her voice...I know, I'm not the best singer, and I'm sure someone out there is itching to say "LETS SEE YOU DO BETTER" but the fact is...I can't. So lalala.... :dancing:

I agree with Cordelia. Her career would be in jeperody {sp?} if she ever started singing. ::nono1:: I hope not...she's best at acting...so don't fix what's not broken..or...uhm...dance like no one's watching...uh...sorry, getting my sayings mixed. *sigh* I'll be quiet now. :frozen:
 
Actualy on IMDB under sarahs info it says she doing a new movie which is a musical with Sean William Scott, and Kevin Smith. I think she was wonderful in the musical and can't waite to see this movie, but i don't think a cd would be her best move.

That movie is Southland Tales and Sarah has stated that she will not be singing in that movie. 😀
