Sarah's Death Scene in "Scream 2"

Sarah Michelle Gellar was defining her career in the first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when she appeared in 1997's hastily-assembled Scream sequel. It's a clever bit of casting, as SMG's smart-lipped sorority girl Casey 'Cici' Cooper gets nowhere near being "the final girl" as she carks it on campus. A knife in the back and drop off a balcony sees Buffy bite the dust in the clip below, which has a cracking 'jump' misdirection at the 3-minute mark and also features the voice of Gellar's Cruel Intentions co-star Selma Blair...

I know, I'm the same way! I watch that scene and it feels so funny to watch Sarah playing the helpless victim. 🙂

I first time I saw this was before I was into Buffy but after I started watch the show I went back and re-watched this movie. The whole time I was waiting for her to go "Buffy" on his ass. 😀

i absolutely LOVE the scream trilogy 🙂 SO AWESOME
i like seeing sarah in it, but i do think "buffy wouldn't do that...." 🙂

im obsessed. I have the box set. Already have tickets to see scream 4 tomorrow at midnight haha
I actually hated Sarah's role in this movie. To me, it just SCREAMED 'Look! I can be a real girl, too!' It was almost like she was trying to prove to the fans that she wasn't just Buffy, that she could do 'other stuff' too, but instead, like some people mentioned above, all that made us do was think 'Buffy SO would have been able to kick that guy's ass.' Lol.

She already did that with IKWYDLS, so I don't think she was aiming on that.
lmao I just watched the scene on youtube and it was pretty funny I really did expect her to turn around and kick his ass.

I love the song as well :)
I am actually re-watching this in like two hours lol.

I saw this before Buffy so I never thought oh Buffy would beat him now I kind of do sometimes.
Now I love this death scene but her scene in I know what you did last summer always gets me more everytime I find myself saying come on Sarah run a little bit faster.
I wonder if she went straight to scream set after Buffy because those look exactly like the pants in becoming pt 2. I have been noticing that a lot lately.

love love love your banner. And you're right!
Wow, It's weird seeing "buffy" being scared like that; you would think it was some humongus Big Bad instead of some lame-ass murderer wearing a mask. Hehe

I heard that she was gonna do the actual jumping of the balcony stunt because she did a lot of her own stunts on Buffy....but chickened out in the end!

The part where he stabs her looks so fake! ha ha Oh well, SMG probably loved the irony of being the helpess victim who dies right away!

I'll be in the minority by not thinking of Buffy at all during her scenes in that movie. At all. Now in I know what you did last summer on the other hand...

Nah, just kidding. About the last part. Don't think about Buffy then either.

Really? I always understood her part as a parody of Buffy, like a tribute to her fans. Because I always feel like Cici is extra helpless... Drew Barrymore (forgot her character's name) in the first film fights back really hard in comparison.

Oh, and is her sorority sister called Dawnie or did I mishear that?

It seems like it, or I misheard it also.
I find it incredibly hard to not see Buffy in this scene. I mean, she is even wearing very Buffyesque clothes. Are they her Becoming pants?

I have the same issue in The Grudge. I kept waiting for her to just stop running and kick someone in the head already.

I don't think they are.

she definitely looks like she just stepped off that bus to LA and moved into a sorority house in Woodsboro.
Every time that I see one of these things, I want to tell the idiot in question to just get in one room, lock or block the door, find some kind of heavy blunt object to use as a weapon, back into a corner where no one can get behind her, and just STAY THERE. The biggest, and most common, mistake that all of the victims in these things make is going to investigate strange noises. The second biggest mistake is when a group splits up, with individuals and couples going off and getting killed, one by one. If they would all just get in one spot and stay there, then Freddie, Jason, Michael, or whoever would have no chance of hurting anyone.

(I know, I take this stuff too seriously. It comes from teaching Home Defense seminars for 20 years, so just shoot me)

I did see a parody version of this type of movie a few years ago called "The Bad Boys," with the usual beginning for the movie, but once the first person winds up dead, the rest of the group unpacks .45 automatics and (illegal) Uzi submachine guns, fortifies their perimeter, and waits for the bad guy with the machete to try something. The movie got kind of boring after that. They wound up playing Monopoly all night, then everybody left to go have breakfast at a local restaurant. The lsat scene was of this shadowy figure walking away muttering something like, "This never happens to Freddie..."

Scream 2 is the only good movie SMG has ever been in.
I love all the Scream movies (so excited about seeing the fourth!!) but I hate seeing SMG like that cos I just can't get into it, so that scene always bothers me when I watch it..

I have been noticing those pants a lot and those are the pants I think because they always stand out to me. I thought she just went over the scream set afterwards or something.
