I would say Buffy, even though i am a complete and total Spuffy fan. Like someone said, no one has ever made the other happier. In one episode in season three (i forget which one) Angel says: "You'll always be my girl."
Buffy replies: "Always."

It just made me think, because they really said it like they meant forever.

Their first really intimate expression of love and the world around them literally crumbled. 'hello angelus-hello death'. I'm sure that could put a strain on any growing relationship, especially when the elephant-angelus in the relationship comes in form of countless death for many because of to much happy. Most of us can't even make simple normal/lack-of-death relationship work, so one really has to rationalize with the situation despite how strong shes suppose to be. Angel is her weakness and allows her to be vulnerable. The fact that he came back was a miracle in itself and to have them actually work at it there after. Beautiful. So, yeah voted Buffy because when she'd said "Always" she meant it and I've little doubt in my mind that Angel did too.

Cordy. I really liked them together. To me, she understood Angel and could get him to open up to her about his feelings. Angel really loved her.

I guess I just don't see it. I like Cordelia, but I think that Joss was so desperate to throw in a love interest for his hero that it just came off so... bad.

Part of me actually preferred Angel being alone, if he couldn't have Buffy. Because moreso than any other character in the Buffyverse, Angel is a creature of strength.

Though I can't deny, like Spuffy, I saw the attraction of Nina and Angel.

Hm, so you think Cangel was a desperate attempt to give Angel a love interest, but Nina wasn't?!?! Have we watched the same show? For me it seemed the other way around...There was always some attraction between Cangel ("Hello, salty goodness!"), their love really developed from something, while Nina was just thrown in there after Cordy's death (and having previously just been a random innocent in one single episode with no further importance) to make Angel seem not that dark in W&H.

I didn't see it that way. I kinda thought it was more of a believable development process (Cordy and Angel) and saw Nina and Angel as more "this is bad". lol, but everybody has their own opinion.

I voted Cordy for Angel, although I do love Darla and Angel together. I don't like Bangel because their relationship was too fast, and it was not true love.

Do I even need to answer this lol?

Buffy. It keeps coming back to her and it always will. Nodody has come close to making them as happy as they make each other. Their words and actions in Chosen and The Girl in Question showed that they are still THAT person for each other.

So Buffy, for me, is still and always will be Angel's girl.

Thanks Kean! All this Cordelia love I almost went to the dark side!!! Bangel forever!!!!!!:lmao:

No, I don't think it was true love, because Angel didn't even seem to like her that much, it seemed like he was just with her because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. Also their relationship didn't develope or grow, and like some people said, they didn't seem to know eachother that well.

I think it was true love. Particularly given the sacrifices Angel made, which doesn't constitute being with her simply because he didn't want to hurt her.

I'll agree to disagree, but the idea that he didn't like her that much is... odd. 😛

Completely agree. Their story is heartwrenching. A vampire whith a soul destined to fight evil meets The Vampire Slayer. She's cute and cunning and likes to kick ass just like he does. Eventually they want to tear each others clothes off. But happiness is not meant for Buffy and Angel. They can't have each other. Who can define true love??? Damn those Gypsies!!!! Angel is meant to suffer and sacrifice... every day he does. But Buffy sacrifices too. And that is a true love story. Two people who love each other but will never get to have that other person, to revel in that love.

Without sounding really mean, did we watch the same show?! I've heard/seen a lot of Bangel bashing my time, but I have never seen anyone interpret their relationship this way.

Angel was clearly head over heels for Buffy, he was always tortured and brooding about it. Even as Angelus, he showed that he had some real strong feelings from her and knew her so well that he knew exactly how to get at her. If they weren't so in love pre-Angelus, the Angelus arc would not have been so heartbreaking.

I always saw Angel as being the one doing more of the chasing at times, particularly at the start of Season 2, so I struggle to see how you think he was only with her because he didn't want to hurt her feelings. I mean, his last word before losing his soul/humanity was 'Buffy' - the thing that was going to be the biggest loss for him, the thing he didn't want to lose the most; which says a lot to me.

Their relationship developed much like any other teenage/cradle robbing creature of the night relationship. They spent a lot of time together, made out a lot and then had sex, when they felt the time was right. And then they managed to get past the whole Angelus thing and reach, for a little while, contentment together in Season 3. Now if that's not development, I don't know what is.

And now, I'm going to get off my soap box and make way for Kean! (sw)

Well, I'm not trying to say that he hated her but what I'm trying to say is that to me it seemed like she had to make him love her.

Did anyone notice that in season four of Angel, when Wesley has the shaman remove Angel's soul, "Buffy" was also the last word Angel said? And that was when he was making love to Cordy.

Yep, yep. That is one of our gems! :D
I think I've recently come to the conclusion that Angel should probably soldier on alone.

I'm not sure I'm conceding to Spuffy, because while I'm becoming more and more open minded on that relationship by the second, I still don't see the awe-inducing love. Not on Buffy's end, anyway. To me, Buffy's attraction and feelings for Spike lay firmly within the realm of "sufficient" which is to say that I think she regards him no more than she regarded Riley.

But I think "the Girl in Question" has shown me that while she will carry Angel and Spike in her heart forever, and though I still believe she loved Angel more, that she ultimately is seeking love elsewhere.

I don't know... Buffy and Angel had their moments, but I love Cordelia and Angel. And I always was a fan of Darla and Angel together

Ok halt your retreat pal. All was not what it seems in TGIQ, get the season 8 comics. There is canon in there that you should be aware of.
