Here's a challenge, primarily for the Spuffies and Bangels, but everybody's welcome. Say something good about the 'ship that you oppose, and no cheating by saying that "(Fill in the blank) was Buffy's best friend in Season... This has to be something genuinely positive about the romantic relationship.

The Bangel relationship was something both good and positive for both Buffy and Angel because it literally taught them both HOW to love, as well as what real love is all about. Buffy and Angel each literally brought completeness and fulfillment to the other.

(See? No sarcasm, no snide remarks or innuendo. All positive, all truthful. Now, who else wants to try?)

praising Becoming is the only non-sarcastic thing I can add to this thread ;)

I always loved the way Spike was just there for Buffy. I thought that was beautiful, obviously especially come the end of season 7. But even when she confided in him at the beginning of season 6. There was something so understanding and trusting between them even at the worst of times after that, that I really adored.

Anyone who has seen a couple of my posts (& only a couple 'cause I don't shout it from the rooftops or anything), will know that I don't really roll with this whole 'shipping business. So I'll say something nice about it in general. The 'ships seem to bring a lot of joy, happiness & love into the lives of many people which in my book cannot be a bad thing. I also respect the sincerity & love with which 'shippers talk about their respective 'ships & it has on occasion made me smile.

Bangel gave us "Becoming II", which is probably the best written episode of the entire Buffyverse.

Yeah. The "Close your eyes" scene was really beautiful. Seriously, no sarchasm there. Aeautifylly written, wonderfully played. It actually choked me up the first time.
I just feel like doing Spuffy right now since I'm both, I liked how Spike told them all that they were assholes for kicking Buffy out of the house in Empty Places and how he stuck up for the women he loved!

Bangel is the perfect example of Epic first love, and, as I've said before, it's much more epic than spuffy. 🙂

Whether I like it or not... 😛

I think I love you!
Bangel gave us some genuinely heartbreaking moments. The ending to 'Becoming' is one of the most moving sequences in the series, and IWRY made me feel very sorry for Angel and admire him as a true hero.

Briley was Buffy's healthiest relationship. He never attempted to kill/mentallytorture/rape her.

Spuffy had some potential in S5.
(Sorry, that's the best I can come up with right now, I'll wrack my brains.)

Spike after what happened in Empty Places showed that he was the only one who understood Buffy as a leader, as a warrior and as a person. He should have kicked the asses of the Potentials and also Willow's. I would be there to support him. "She died for you" was the best line someone could have said for Buffy.

See? I do support Spike when he is good!

If it wasn't for his love for Buffy, Angel would have never made something of himself. He'd still be in the gutters eating rats and feeling sorry for himself. His love for her transformed him and helped make him into a hero. The power she has over him is still apparent to this day. She's his morality.

The power of love - their love - will save him.

Here's a challenge, primarily for the Spuffies and Bangels, but everybody's welcome.

The only 'ships I simply didn't enjoy watching were Connor/Cordelia, Dawn/Xander, and Buffy/Satsu, so...

Buffy/Satsu:
Like Frau Farbissina with Dr. Evil, showed that no man could live up to Spike & Angel, so Buffy went a completely different route.

Dawn/Xander:
Dawn got to live out her lifelong fantasy.

Connor/Cordy:
Connor didn't poke himself in the eyes.

When Buffy was brought back in s6, Spike told her how many days she was dead and that "every night he saves her"...possibly the ONLY time I liked spuffy...the only time sth real was said. I almost cried when I heard Spike said that. Mostly I was crying for BUffy's sake though.
