I've been tempted to start this thread since I joined BB a few days ago. Here goes nothing!

If you "ship", please identify a relationship on BTVS or Angel that you do NOT support. Then, write a positive thing or two about it!

I'll start:

Bangel: The night Angel stayed over in Buffy's room and slept on the floor, I thought they had a very sweet conversation. I was impressed with the fact that Angel came to Buffy's rescue when she got attacked by The Three, and that Buffy helped Angel with his wounds. Also, the next night, they kissed for the first time. That kiss was tender, erotic, and beautiful.

This is such a good thread idea!! This is going to be a bit hard, but I'll try my best 😛

Riley/Buffy

I actually really like their interaction in Hush. You can see that they really care for each other when they see each other in the street and can't express it in words. This was just a sweet scene in general that I was able to truly appreciate.

Spike/Buffy

I truly love the scene at the end of Intervention when Buffy poses as the Bot to see if Spike gave Dawn up to Glory.

I love this scene because this is one of the truly good things that Spike does without a soul; he loves Buffy enough that he will withstand hours of torture from a Hell God for her. He refuses to give up Dawn because he knows how broken Buffy will be if that happens.

And I love the kiss at the end because of what it represents; it's not Buffy saying "I love you" to Spike. It's not even Buffy saying "We have a chance." It's purely Buffy saying "Thank you." She's showing Spike how much she appreciates what he has done for her and Dawn. She's showing him that she trusts him and that she's grateful for what he's done.

I love the scene you are talking about, they mean so much!
Oh, this could get positively bloody quite easily'

Bangel: Angel was Buffy's first experience with love, as far as we know, and it was sincere, genuine, and unforgettable. Above all else, the Bangel relationship is proof positive of the undendeniable truth of first love, and that is...

Without first love, there can never be second love, or third love, or fiftieth love. Our first love is the one that we will always hold dear, and the one with which we will always compare our current love. It is the foundation on which we build all of our future relationships, and as a foundation, it simply can not stand alone. It MUST be built upon, or all that we have is a hole in the ground surrounded by bricks, pillars built, but never serving their purpose, which is to support everything that comes later.

Bangel is every young girl's dream romance, straight out of a Harlequin Romance novel. The dark, handsome, mysterious stranger with the tragic past that he is trying to put behind him meets the sweet innocent young girl who is tossed into a world full of danger and dark forces. He is her hero, she is his princess. It is a dream romance. But, eventually, you have to wake up and come back into the real world.

Bangel is great in its time. But its time eventually passes, and life goes on.

A balanced approach. My view of Bangel is similar to yours.

Spike x Buffy
Any comedic interactions between Spike and Buffy in the first five seasons are completely gold and entertaining. ("you don't have any circulation" "i'm in a rock band with spike here" "you have stupid hair" "but if you're gonna kill her *inserts thumbs up here*" "flacid?" "you're completely lame". I also have a fondness for their scenes in The Gift, Fool For Love and Intervention.
.

I am SO glad I created this thread. It makes me happy! It was an attempt to see if people could appreciate things they didn't necessarily agree with. 😀 😉

I have nothing nice to say about Spuffy and I won't pretend I do but what I will say is that even though we buck heads now and again, some of my very favourite people in fandom are Spuffies. Spuffies have had my back when I needed it and they've honestly provided me with some of the best conversation I've ever had online. So here's to Spuffies and their crazy passion for their ship.

At first your comment upset me, but I've changed my mind about it. Thanks for being honest and for admiring our "crazy passion". :)
Spike and Buffy

Buffys relationship with Spike makes her relationship with Angel look healthy.

I also enjoyed the line "Out. For. A. Walk... Bitch."

Willow/Malcolm

It teaches young girls how to deal with nonhuman, manipulative and homicidal boyfriends. If only Buffy would take a clue. If I ever have a daughter and for some reason she decides to watch BtVS, I'll be like, be like Willow, don't be like Buffy.

Kudos for the creative choice!
Angel and Cordelia truly cared about each other. Their lamebrain "romance" was founded on a beautiful friendship.

Two more things I like about Bangel: When he fed off of her. One of the best scenes of Season 3! Also, Bangel's "puppy love" helped me to appreciate the depth of Spuffy even more.

Oh, also:

Briley: Wow, this is going to be difficult for me! Um...He helped Buffy patrol and was usually an extremely supportive boyfriend.

Spuffy:

1) It was sweet when Buffy came back to life and Spike saw her and immediately took care of her dirty bleeding hands; and when she asked how long she'd been gone he knew the exact number of days.

So you want her to be a drug addicted lesbian with a high susceptibility for PTSD and pron to obsessive behavior? 😛

I have an addendum to this thread. Let's see if we can do the same topic without taking backhanded swipes at the ships' we're complimenting. I don't think everyone can do it 🙂.

For my answer, I felt like Tara made Willow truly happy.

(@OFAWB, I didn't know puppy loves lasted for years and years after the initial breakup 🙂)

I don't consider puppy love to be an insult, but I only mentioned it after people insulted Spuffy. And I said something nice about Briley, which was very hard for me to do! 😛

I had SOME good intentions with this thread, but I also knew I was making trouble. 😀

Oh, I know, I was just kidding. It's a great thread. These things always ramp up.

I think I was the first to backhand compliment Spuffy and it was only cuz someone backhand complimented Bangle first, so thats were it all started :)

I know it wasn't your intention, but putting lesbian in the middle of a bunch of issues about Willow kind of irks me.

Yeah. "Lesbian" isn't an insult.

Sorry I meant to specify at the end of my comment but got caught up edited grammar. I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality. Some of my closest friends are gay and lesbian so I didn't mean for it to come out that way. I only meant that in the context of modeling a child after someone it might not be something you push a child towards. Ugh I feel like I cant properly explain what I mean in a way that doesnt make me sound like a complete ass. 🙁

No worries 🙂 I know you didn't mean it that way, I don't consider you an ass at all. I get what you're trying to saying (just like you shouldn't push anyone to be straight), it's just nice to have that extra bit of explanation, so thank you for responding!
