Kenosha: maybe it's just because I'm quiet and keep to myself occasionally (I have times when I'm out a lot... sometimes) but it seems like no one else in this county has anything good to say or think about Buffy.

Anyway, my name is Nate. I'm 22 years old, living Xander-style (ala season 4, except without the rent paying, sort of). I go to UW-Parkside full time in the Fall and Spring (no summer/winter classes for me) with a major in English and a minor in Geography. Pretend you're my grandparents and you ask me every 3 days, "Nate, what will you be doing with that degree?" and this is the response you'd get: "Lots of things, I guess". But, to myself, I'm thinking "Shoot, I really don't know, but hopefully writing or editing on some kind of fancy-ish publication, or marketing; maybe I'll go the Geog. route and get into city planning, or maybe publishing for Rand McNally.... Ahhh!!!!"

Yeaaah. So, on the bright side, I took a 300 level English course this past spring, Short Story with the special topic of "American Gothic and American Fear". Halfway through the semester when the professor brought up the "dreaded" (not by me of course, I'm kind of a nerd in the sense that I enjoy/am scared/highly anticipate final papers) final paper. She passed out the guidelines, then booted up her laptop. Played some videos with the intentions of illustrating the fact that "literature" isn't limited to the written word. We watched something along the lines of "The Cutest Dead Girl", then some Eddie Izzard skit about vampires, then... the first half of the first act of Dr. Horrible (she invited us to stay after class to watch the rest, but barely anyone did).

I tend to ramble sometimes, I know. But anyway, to the point: I did my final paper in that class on "Once More, With Feeling" and received an A. A couple of my professors are Buffy fanatics, and that's actually kind of how I got into the show.

23 March 2008 is when Amazon says I purchased the Chosen Collection, and a few days later is the first time I watched a whole episode. A few months before is when my aforementioned professor, along with some students in that professors class, got me interested in Buffy.

Buffy pretty much my life now. Maybe not really, but it seems like it sometimes because I can relate just about all of my goings-on to Buffy or Angel, or, of course, Firefly and Dollhouse. I love it all, it's meant a lot to me, it will continue to mean a lot to me.

Welcome to the boards! :) Have fun posting (sw)
Hi there! Welcome to the boards, i really hope you like it here 😀

Well it seems like this'll be a great Buffy outlet for me. I wonder why I haven't looked for this before??

Anyway I look forward to being an extremely frequent visitor here. To be honest I'm a bit blown away by how BIG this board seems. I've been on various forums before but this one seems to take the cake.

Hi Nate! :welcome: It's great to have you here. I see you've already been adopted (good call) and now it can be a good idea to get sorted into a dorm. It just gives you access to a hidden part of the boards and will help you get to know some of the members here a bit better. And you get sorted in The Sorting Tome.

I tend to ramble sometimes
Don't worry about that. That's mostly a good thing. 🙂

Happy posting!

Yay for cool teachers!

You got that right. 😛

Hiiiii Nate! Welcome to Buffy Boards!!! 😀

And a fellow rambler is always welcome!!! 🙂
Enjoy! :welcome:
