None of the episodes scare me, but Hush is definitely the creepiest.

Killed By Death is a great episode, but I would not say it's scary...and personally, I thought the demon was ruined when they showed it's eyes coming out of its head...that was far too silly. Otherwise, I loved that demon.

Gotta agree with the eye thing. Before that he was one of the scariest demons out there. And to make it worse, they showed the same thing twice... :o
Hush was the creepiest on the list. The floating Gentlemen have to be some of the most realistic demons in the 'verse. Plus, it gets points for Danse Macabre. Not that that's particularly creepy, but it really added to the atmosphere. The one scariest moment in the 'verse has to be 'Mother's Milk is Red Today'... that makes me uncomfortable even just thinking about it.

The scariest episode overall though has to be The Body. For anyone who has ever been in that kind of position, well, they got it so right that it is often uncomfortable to watch. I suppose the source of the fear it inspires comes from outwith the episode, but I still think it is the scariest. In the more conventional sense, Joyce's body being there at the start of every act was really unnerving, as was the bit at the end with Dawn reaching out. It's by far my favourite episode, but it's hard to watch.

Having been in that position myself, I totally agree with you about what you said of The Body. It's sometimes a little too well-done, too spot-on, you know?
I've grown up watching horror movies so I'm pretty much desensitized to scares. I'm gonna give the nod to Hush though, there was some creepy shit going on in that episode.

I've voted for Hush. The way the Gentlemen smile just creeps me out!

Der Kindestod is pretty creepy too, but I grew up watching Freddy Krueger movies and now, like bucky01403, I'm feeling a bit desensitized. The two could be long lost brothers to me. 😉

While Freddy doesn't get me much anymore, I stare in disbelief at anyone whose "long lost brother" EATS THROUGH HIS EYES. (every time I even think of that scene I get the shudders!)
Thinking back to when i first watched the show on television, the only two that i found really scary were CWDP and Hush.

Hush was scary the first time I saw it (late at night, alone--eek), but now it's quite fun to watch. Conversations with Dead People is very disturbing and the stuff with Dawn always makes me cringe with horror.

One that hasn't been said or listed that really scares me is 'Dirty Girls'. The first time I watched it, I felt so nervous and anxious the whole time, I knew something horrible was going to happen. And then--poor Xander--that was the first time I ever actually screamed outloud while watching anything. I can't watch the last 10 minutes of that episode without hugging a pillow or something.

Listening to Fear just creeps me out. Totally rubs me the wrong way.
Closely followed by Conversations with Dead People...during both of these episodes, I wanted to cover my ears. 😛
Hush is very scary, too, but not ear-cover-worthy, so I didn't vote for that one.

I voted 'I Only Have Eyes For You', though 'Conversations With Dead People' and 'Where the Wild Things Are' freak me out equally. But as you may or may not have noticed, these 3 are all among my favourite episodes, so I don't mind the scary. And also, you can see what freaks me out the most, I really get scared of ghosts of any kind.

Btw, I think the scariest all time episode is from Angel, not Buffy.

Is it 'Afterlife' is season 6 I think 6x03 - the episode where the scoobies have to get rid of the demon they 'made' by bringing Buffy back? The scene with Anya cutting her face makes me shiver lol... Not really scary but errr..
