Suspenseful Horror -vs- Gory Horror

So, I just got finished watching The Hills Have Eyes and I was wondering if ya'll prefered gory horror films or suspenseful horror films. I personally prefer suspenseful ones like the Sixth Sense and movies of that genre....I don't love movies that make me feel sick to my stomach...I will however make an exception for Saw and Saw II...😀

Or do you just dislike all horror movies. (Some people are freaks like that...😛)

I wanna hear thoughts peoples!
 
I'm a fan of all horror movies. I like the suspense/thriller ones because they tend to make you think more so they're good in that respect. But, then again... Who doesn't like seeing some girl try to get herself through a doggy door and ends up decapitated and hanging from the ceiling? Gory movies all the way.
 
i love suspenseful flicks...psychological thrillers are my fave. I am not a fan of gory tho!
 
I hate scary movies. I totally hate the suspenseful movies and I dislike the gory ones. I've never been a fan of them, mainly because I'm a wuss (and darn proud to admit it!)

I am one who constantly thinks about the movie as I'm supposed to be falling asleep. Let me tell you, it doesn't happen much after watching a scary movie (the sleeping part)
 
To me it really depends on what I'm in teh mood for. When I saw "Saw II", I almost had to leave the cinema, even though I thought it was a good film.. but I nearly fainted 'cause of the whole thing with the needles etc., I can't watch that stuff. Sometimes I don't like horror movies at al, sometimes I love them, it all depends..
 
I go through times when I really don't want to watch a scary movie, and times when it's all I want to watch.

I love the fear you get watching a new horror flick, the suspense, the worry... I also like the disgust you feel when you see a new gory bit in a film.

My best friend cannot watch horror films she just refuses to watch them. It's annoying at times as we can never watch them together.

I'm with Epo on this one.That part in Saw II had me feeling so grossed out and almost the whole Saw II movie had me feeling like that. I mean, I like the movie but it was too gory for me. I haven't seen Saw I yet and I want to see it but I heard it's very gory like the second one. The type of scary movies that I really really like are the ones that are like Scream and I know What You Did Last Summer. They have suspenseful parts and some gore but not enough to make you want to run away screaming.
 
The most violent horror movie I've seen is the remake of Dawn of the Dead and that was it for me! I'll take my horror movies with a spoonful of suspense, thank you very much.
 
I don't hate them or anything, I just don't have the guts to watch them to be honest. I'm hoping one of these days to do a horror-flickathon, thinking it COULD be fun... 🙂
 
I like both...i mean, they arent that scary...the last time i had a nightmare about a horror movie was when i was 8 after seeing i still know what you did last summer. But i think i actually watch more suspenseful ones now...there are less gory than suspenseful..i think.

I personally prefer the dge of your seat suspenseful type of horror movie liek the Sixth Sense, the Final Destination series, the Craft and etc.
 
well i love suspenseful horror films.... they are the best... they keep you on the edge of your seat.. and it makes you feel you are in the movie... that and it makes it more scarier... gory is alright, i can get a bit quuezy with those things though.

I'm with SpikedBuffy, I will have bad dreams....really bad. I'm not talking about simple tossing and turning, either. I mean all out, fighting the covers and anyone else in the bed, waking up screaming and crying dreams. After a couple of those, I swore off horror movies forever.
 
My favorite movie genre.

Gory or suspenseful, old or new, it doesn't matter to me. I'll watch it all, even the cheesy ones, as long as they're coherent and entertaining....emphasis on COHERENT.
 
Well, seeing as ya'll have been so forthcoming...😀

I love horror movies. I definitely prefer suspenseful ones to gory ones, but I won't say no to a bit of gore. I love all of M. Night Shyamalan's stuff. All of it awesome.

But, if anyone has been to see The Hills Have Eyes yet, they will know what I'm talking about when I say that there is such a thing as too much gore. That movie almost make me physically ill. I don't think I've ever had that sort of reaction to a movie ever. I don't know if that's one horror movie I'll be watching again.

Ummm, and I think the Final Destination movies would be classified as Gory, hon. 😀
 
I like suspense. Keeps you on the edge, keeps you sharp. Gory doesn't have that kind of effect.
