Ooh, this is gonna take a while, lol.
For this week's Scooby Spotlight we have
@Lyri in the hot seat. To get the ball rolling:
1. How did you find BB? What were your first thoughts about it?
2. What is it about Buffy that has you ‘coming back’?
3. If you could guest star in any Buffy or Angel episode, which episode would you choose?
4. What does a day in your life usually look like?
5. If you could swap lives with one person for a day who would it be?
Everyone please feel free to post your own questions throughout the week.
🙂
1. I was actually a member of another (now defunct) forum. The mods were very abusive of their power and took the sides of certain members, even if those members were in the wrong. There was a huge fight, where some of the other members decided to 'rebel' for want of a better word, lol, and the admins decided to close. I basically googled 'BtVS forums' and this one popped up first. Then I went back to the other place and told everyone where I was going and brought a lot of people with me, lol.
2. I love the complexity of the show. People can see wildly different things in the same scene/line and I love that.
3. I'd probably pick 'Restless', because it was so wonderfully weird.
4. I get up about 7am, out of the house by 8:30. I have to travel by bus across the city to the first of my stores (I'm a jewelry rep for a few big name retailers), spend a few hours there before doing the same thing with the next three stores. I'm usually home by about 3/3:30pm on a normal day, but if it's not busy, then I could be home as early as 2pm.
Probably Joss or any successful writer, but it might be fun to be Jennifer Lawerence or someone, lol.
Or, if I'm being REALLY selfish...Danneel Ackles
😉 Not for Jensen, just for her
😉
Besides the fan art displayed on this forum do you do any other kind art work such as painting and drawing etc..? If so what sort of subjects?
Having been a member of this forum for almost a decade do you have a personal highlight during that time? Would you say the place has changed for the best over the years?
Which is your favourite genre of film/book/music?
1. I have qualifications in art, art history and photography. I mostly did abstract work when it came to art, portraits when it came to photography, but while I still take photos, it's been a very long time since I painted/drew anything.
2. Boy, I have a LOT. Hosting the awards with Kean that year was one of the best experiences of my life. Me, Kean, B and Faith came up with a lot of hilarious scenes and stuff that had people rolling the aisles.
Bork Bork was GREAT!
But I think my favorite time on BB was when me Kean and Faith decided to play an April Fool's joke on B, where we created another site, on freewebs or something, that was basically just a carbon copy of this place. Seriously, we stole all the graphics, the forum names, everything, and created all these fake members, the idea being that, on April 1st, we would go to B and tell her that we found this place, and isn't it horrible that someone could do this?! But, Faith, that wily minx, went behind our backs and told B EVERYTHING. When it came time to tell B, Faith played us like a fiddle, telling us that B was so very upset by this and was crying and everything and how, I think, she was looking to get revenge, and how hurt she was by someone doing this to her and she posted about it on the main boards, something we didn't think she would do. Kean and I were SO freaked out, because we'd known B for a LONG time by then and we knew that she would be angry by the so called theft, but her reaction was something that we didn't anticipate.
Turns our, WE were the ones getting pranked by B and Faith, which resulted in us getting banned from the boards altogether. I've never been so scared and yet had so much fan, especially when the four of us then went on to prank the rest of the members that we were actually in trouble for what we did, lol.
OH!! Another thing I remembered, in Merrick once, we (me, as Prefect/Mod, Faith as House Mod, and Kean as Mod) decided to have an in-house murder mystery game, where I would be 'killed' and the other members would be able to ask questions of Kean in order to find out who the murderer was. We set it up on Halloween weekend, supposedly just to last that weekend, and played it up like I was actually gone, but it went on for FAR longer than any of us could have guessed - almost a month, I think! I was still Prefect of the house, so I still had duties to attend to, so it became a running joke that I was running around with my head cut off (the nature of my death, lol) and had to have it stuck back on with duct tape everytime I had to post something, lol. It was a joke that lasted right up until the end of Merrick. For the record, Faith was my killer, lol.
I'd say that the boards have changed, a lot. There are some members that have left that really made this place feel like something special. I miss Merrick, my house and my home here (is VisionGuy still in the dungeon? Poor boy must be a skeleton by now, he's been there for at least 6 years, lol). I miss the challenges that we used to have and the random things we did to win house points, lol. Did we have a 'Find the Anya Donkey' game? That seems familiar. I do remember a 'find the house crest' game, where the four house crests were hidden in various threads around the boards. I remember that Merrick were beaten by SECONDS and it was so much fun trying to post in the thread in time.
3. I usually enjoy sci-fi or fantasy books/movies/shows, but I have a thing about procedurals as well, something that I get from my mother. (REAL mother, not Faith, she's not actually my mom, lol).
Do you have an opinion about the war on gluten?
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
How did you meet your best friend?
Do you believe in ghosts?
What's the worst thing someone has ever said to you?
When was the last time you got sick?
1. Uh...no?
2. In college, my work was chosen as the show piece of our final exhibit. It was used for all the advertisement, all the posters and programs. Such an honor.
3. My best friend is Kean, we met here, on this very boards. We became mods at the same time and decided that the best thing for us to do would be to stick together and figure everything out together. We've been best friends ever since.
4. Yep, I have one in my house.
5. It's something that I don't like to talk about, something that happened a long time ago but still has an impact to this day.
6. I'm sick right now, lol. But I was seriously ill over Christmas, I had a bad eye infection that caused the whole side of my face to swell and my eye to close, and then, on top of that, I got the flu and my blood pressure decided to fall through the floor. It was a bad time, lol.
Favourite celebrity you've met?
Christian Kane. He's my favorite person in the world, I adore him. Can't wait to see him again in April!! Jared Padalecki comes a close second!
OH! Good one..
Favorite celebrity you've not yet met?
Danneel Ackles, probably.
Considering you have been a BBer for a long time, what's your favorite BB memory ?
I'm gonna refer you back to my answer to Mr. Trick
😛😛
What initial opinion that you had about the Buffyverse and its characters has changed the most? What opinion has stayed pretty much the same?
What non-Whedon shows do you enjoy watching, if any?
1. I used to be a HUGE Spike fan when I was a teenager, and a Spuffy fan. The more time I spent online, talking about this character and what he did, the more my opinion changed. I'm not condemning people who like Spike, I just found that, as I grew as a person, Spike's actions were counter to my real life opinions, the morals that I prided myself on. I didn't like the idea of having such cross purposes, even if one of those is fiction. So I stepped back from the character and the ship, tried to put forth a different view point of his actions, not something that hated on him, but something that didn't whitewash him either. I got a lot of backlash for what I said, for turning by back on Spike, and that, ironically, just made me turn away from the character even more. I grew to hate him and Spuffy, and I lost a lot of people I considered friends because of that.
As for what opinion stayed the same...Buffy Summers is a hero. She's my hero and always has been.
2. Supernatural, Teen Wolf, Reign, Arrow, Flash, Bones, Supergirl, SVU, NCIS (original and LA), Tattoo Fixers, Blindspot, Major Crimes, Criminal Minds. I can't think of anymore, lol.
If you could only watch one episode of Supernatural for the rest of your life, which would you choose? 🙂
Hmm, this is a hard one. I think probably 'The French Mistake' or 'Changing Channels', one of the fun ones that have a 'fish out of water' feeling about them.
Who is your favorite SPN character and why? Who is your least favorite and why? And which character do you wish was around more?
What's the most embarrassing CD you own?
If you could see any musician perform live, who would it be?
Who is your favorite comedian?
1. Sam Winchester, without questions. He's a hero, he's very selfless, he's very strong in his convictions, dedicated to his family, which is something I greatly admire.
Least favorite would be Castiel. I think he served his purpose a long, LONG time ago, and I think he was only kept around because of the fans and their reactions to Misha. That, and the fact that the writers like baiting the Destiel shippers, even if it upsets one of their main stars.
Though, in saying that, I am excited for what's happening in the show right now!!
I would like to have Ruby 2.0 back. I adore Genevieve and I would like to see her back, in some form, at least once before the show ends. Charlie, too, deserved better and I hope she comes back soon, too.
2. I don't really believe in questions like this. I don't think any one should be embarrassed by anything that they like, because it's a part of what makes you the person that you are. In saying that, I, the atheist, have Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on CD. It's my favorite musical.
3. I've been very lucky in that I've managed to see almost all of my favorite artists live, but I think I would like to see Jason Manns or Adelel.
4. I don't really like comedians a lot. It's not something that I would make a point of sitting down and watching, it's always sort of accidental when I watch things like that. I do like Sarah Millican and Michael McIntyre, and I have a bit of a soft spot for Jimmy Carr, lol.
I'm actually scared at how many of these questions I could answer for her 😛
That is a terrifying notion!!
Favourite artist?
Favourite fan artist?
1. Salvador Dali, Jasper Johns or Kandinsky. They are the three artists I spent most of my time studying at college, those I looked into and tried to deconstruct.
2.
Bre or
SayJay probably, two very good friends of mine and two very big influences on my art.
Thanks, guys!!!
