[Mumrik]

I used to use my nickname (Ally - not the ally, but not Calista Flockhart either. It's kinda pronounced like "Ali" with two l's) on online boards but I changed it about two years ago because that's when I started to dislike strangers (actually only the ones I don't like) addressing me so casually.
That was when me and my friend where in a phase where we rewatched "The Moomins" and "Mumrik" is one of the versions of "Snufkin" used in Germany. I don't like to remember a lot of different screen names so I just use it almost everywhere.

My real name is Angelica - spelled English, pronounced German though I don't mind the English pronounciation. Only older relatives and official documents (except when they want something from a certain Angelika) call me that.
As to how it got to Ally - I strongly dislike the short versions of my name I got called in my lifetime and abandoned Engel (German for Angel) when I broke up with a group of "friends", so someone got frustrated and said, "I'm just gonna call you Ally" as a sort of joke but it stuck. I don't really like it that much anymore and I'm slowly trying to convince people not to. Quite a few people still think it's my real name - and are deeply disappointed when they learn it's not.
An English friend calls me Ace though, which I like a lot. 🙂

Which do I prefer? My screen name (never really got other versions for that) or Ace, I'd say.

 

[xaphania]

I use xaphania on most sites that I sign up to (except the forum where I admin). This tends to get shortened to xaph a lot. It comes from when I made my first yahoo email address yonks ago, and needed something, and I'd just finished reading His Dark Materials and thought it sounded cool.

Since then, it's just stuck. Oh, and it has to be all lower-case letters, because I think Xaphania looks weird with a capital X. XD

My real name's Amy. I don't mind which name people use.

I use Flannen for most things that I sign up to, its usually my account name. It doesn't really mean anything, I think it was said in Friends once and my brothers used to say it all the time instead of swearing in front of my family...? It's also my one of my cat's names, for the same reason.

I'm really rubbish with coming up with screen names, so if Lou is already taken (which is ALWAYS is 🙂) then I use Flannen. My real name is Louise, but most people call me Lou, or Weese but that's only my parents and close friends. And now that Kinslayer has informed what Flannen means in Swedish, I would definitely prefer to be called Lou!! Lol.

I used Fusions2 as the Fusions part sounded cool and the 2 because then if the name isn't taken I don't have to spend hours thinking of another alternate screen name. Also I use it a lot on other accounts like Twitter, photobucket and other forums. Usually as a screen name I used Charmed but not on big forums like this one as the odds of it being taken are pretty high, so I just use it small forums like my own.

My real name is Clare or Clarice by my friends. 😀

I'm Nicole...some of my friends call me Nikki, some stick with Nicole, occasionally they say it in a french accent cos it sounds better 🙂 But my Mum and brothers tend to call me Nic [no idea why], and my Grandma will mispronounce my name until the day she dies. Again, I don't know why.
I think I prefer my real name...cos calling my Funkyguitarbabe would be weird.

Screen name is Aussie cos I couldnt think of anything better when I signed up. I figured I would come up with something later on and get it changed but I never did. My real name is Gemma, most people call me Gem tho. Since BB was one of the first internet things I joined up on, the Aussie name has stuck and for other sites like LJ and Twitter, Im AussieGem.

On my horsey forums Im GemGem and most of my mates call me that too. Also known as Gemmy, Oz/Ozzie, Princess Dumbarse, OiGEM, Gemeral (but not often) and Gemlar by one member here but I dont mind cos it reminds me of that movie Gremlins and it makes me giggle. I dont really mind what people call me. Gem or Aussie, doesnt really matter, but it is starting to get trippy cos I hear "Aussie" said on Tv all the time and I think they are calling me!

Anyway, do you prefer your real name or SN?

On here I prefer nicknames based on my username but nicknames based on my real name works too. Or should I say the ones I've heard so far. Or come to think about it, I think it depends on who says it. People that are calling me real name nicknames would be weird if they starting using nicknames based on my username. So which I prefer depends on the person. In real life I prefer my real name 98% of the time. No nicknames anymore even if I've grown unhealthy fond of some of the nicknames peple have given me here...

Sibby is my main screen name on the internet. If its not Sibby its Sibbysin, Lilmissdiv, Feather_Glitter or Bonnie Bean.

Ok: Story time! I'm Randi Dawn in my family because I am named after my dad. His name is David Randolph and he went by Randy growing up because my grandfather's name was Clark David, and he went by David. So breakdown: Clark David (David) - David Randolph (Randy) - Randi Dawn. Kinda neat huh?
