I've recently had a new monitor and as it's a bigger, widescreen one, none of my previous wallpapers fit anymore. So I got to thinking about what sizes I should really make my future art in. Usually I would make them 1024 x768 as this seems quite popular & they used to fit my screen perfectly, but widescreen monitors seem to be on the increase so I thought if you guys were feeling helpful, you could vote on the poll for your appropriate screen resolution. 🙂

I guess what I really want to know is what wallpapers/desktops you actually use, or would use if they were available. 🙂

Thanks for you help guys! 😉

The two that I use are 1024 x 768 and 800 x 600. I've never actually tried any of the other resolutions on here. I didn't even know about widescreen monitors. That's really cool.

I voted for 1024 x 768 because that is what pretty much all my wallpapers are currently sized at but my new monitor screen is a little wider than my old one and does stretch them a little out of shape. It's not all that noticeable though and after a while you get used to it.

Even so, a stretched Amy Lee is still a gorgeous Amy Lee... 😉

Aww, c'mon! ANY Amy Lee is good with you! LOL!!!
Mine has a max resolution of 1280 x 1024, but I have it set on 1158 x 864 because it's comfortable for me to read. Most of my wallpapers are sized to that, but I do have some that I have to either tile or stretch, and some that are bigger, so they get cut off on the sides.

Yeah I had the same thing, when I got my laptop it has a widescreen and none of my old walls fit, now I have to make them 1280 x 768!

My laptop is like that, too. I have a hard time getting walls to look right on it.
I use the 1024x768 and resolutions near it.

I absolutely DESPISE 800x600. Everything is too big. I can't be on a computer with that resolution for too long, so I hate using public computers. And when I have to I usually change the resolution if they don't have it locked, even if it's against policy. lol

I always used to use 800x600 on my old monitor (which was the old-style type screen), but I purchased a nice shiny new laptop last summer and 800x600 was waaaaaaaaay too wierd. The screen itself isn't a whole lot bigger but it displays things differently. So I changed to 1024x768, which seems to fit just right for me 🙂 Really was hard to get used to at first (and this monitor is LCD too, so everything looks brighter on here than on my last computer... my banners looked so wierd! :silly: ) but fine with it now.

My laptop originally had the screen set as a widescreen type, had a lot of black, but I changed it so now my screen takes up as much of the area as possible (have maybe 2px of black, I'd guess), not a huge fan of a lot of black 🙂

Miffed67: Same here 😀.

My monitor's max resolution is 1280 x 1024 but I use 1024 x 768 because it's more confortable.

Thanks to everyone that's answered so far - seems that 1024x768 is still the most popular. 🙂

I used to use 1024x768 myself on my old 17" monitor, but this new one is a 19" widescreen one, and the only resolution that looks right is the 1440x900, the other sizes just look way too big.

One thing I have noticed with it being an LCD one, is how different the colours are on everything! It's way brighter and sharper with this screen.

I think I am going to have to compromise and make 2 different sizes of things now though. 😀

I know! My laptop screen is a LCD and the colours are completly different, and when I look at my art on other computers it looks totally off, cuz there too dark! lol
