I don't understand. I just kinda got into the whole Whedonverse, so I'm kinda out of the loop. How was Charisma screwed over again? And Joss treated her badly?

Sorry to rain on your parade PurplePoof. I know you just made that thread. 🙂

Well, it had to do with what was done with her character, really. Most of us weren't very happy with what came about for Cordelia. How she was sent to a "higher plane", then brought back with no memory and taken over by the Beast, sleeping with Conner, giving birth to Jasmine...it was all an awful arc, really. Her character was much more important to just be forgotten about by everyone pretty much through most of S4 and like, half of S5. And then, she returns in "Your Welcome" (which was an attempt at "closure", I soppose) and then just leaves again (with a lame excuse). It's like giving us (and Angel) ice cream and then taking it away.

I never saw this as any sort of closure. It was just a reminder of the Bangel/Cangel debate, the same as Angel's appearance at the end of Season 7 on "Buffy" was for little more than to remind fans of Bangel/Spuffy.

Agreed. I only said I thought it was some sort of attempt at closure from the writers - It certainly wasn't closure for me! It sure seemed like they were just reminding us now that you mention it. It was like,

"Hey audiences! Did you maybe just tune in from season three! Guess What?! Cordy's a higher being, Angel and her never got together, so there!!! let's rub it in your face and get Angel to tear up again!"
🙂

There's a few other threads that discuss this.

Buit basically...Charisma WAS screwed over. I remember right about the time season 5 was starting...there was an interview with Charisma where she flat-out said she was pissed and hurt and saddened by the fact she got booted off the show. I think there was some drama between her and Joss during season 4 because she waited too long to inform him she was pregnant, and they had to re-do the season 4 arc really fast to accomodate it. I've heard of that extensively anyway...not sure if it's necessarily 100% true.

I also heard Joss was up set that she waited so long to tell him about being pregnant. Although I liked season 4 I never liked the Cordys parts and the fact she was written out still makes me sad. She was part for that original Buffy core was awful to lose her (and she was the only one we did).
🙁

It seems like Joss and Charisma are over that now. In the latest convention (Can't remember the name) When asked if she would be in a Buffy movie, Charisma said she was all for it. If she was pissed at Joss wouldn't she have said probably not?

By mid-season three Angel was SO ridiculous anyways. Them dropping the heart and soul of the show (cordy) by season 4/5 didn't surprise me at all.

Considering the amount of work that she HASN'T gotten since the series ended, she might have just been subtlety asking Joss for a job. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe she's had more roles than James Marsters since she left "Angel," and I just missed them, or maybe she's just been taking some time off to be with her new baby. I just haven't seen or heard anything about her lately except here.

I always think when looking back on it all that the writers took the easy option to finish of Charisma's character and it was wrong. So yeah I think Charisma was screwed over with a slightly reused storyline of someone going evil and being put in a coma (aka Faith's storyline from Season 3 Buffy). But instead she "came back then died" what a crap way to get rid of a character.

At least now its all in the past with Joss and Charisma, hey maybe if shes desperate she'll show up in Dollhouse like Amy Acker is about to. 😀

Hmm, never thought of the connection to Faith actually. Was more about "not another baby". Thought it was enough with Darla getting pregnant. But as far as I´ve heard Cordy was always going to be evil in the fourth season. It just had to be done differently now.

Ok, sure Charisma got screwed for getting kicked out. I do think this is sad since I loved Cordelia. But what surprises me is that not many (if any) seem to think that she can take some of the blame for it. I´m not saying she deserved to get kicked out but she did make it much harder for them to do the show. So that they get pissed isn´t surprising is it? And while pissed it´s easy to overreact...

Joss seems to have this preoccupation with pregnancy plots...poor Cordelia is "inpregnated" by some sort of demon spawn (or thinks she is about to) in like every season of Angel.

I am to do this day pissed that Joss wrote Cordy out of the show. That being said, I loved season four of Angel...best season in the whole damn Slayerverse.

If I was Charisma I'd be upset too. It sounds like Joss was being an immature prick. Which doesn't surprise me at all because he just SEEMS like a douche. (A douche who can write really great stories, but a douche all the same.)

Ironically, I was about to post that I felt the exact opposite. I hate season four. I'm rewatching the series down and I'm basically dragging my ass through S4. I hate evil Cordy, I hate Connor, I hate Jasmine, all bleg. Why do I watch, then? A bad season from the Buffyverse is still about fifteen times better than most anything else I could be watching.

I don't think Joss treated her like dirt, but in Season 4 he definately treated and sort of trashed her character like dirt, because later in Angel and before "You're Welcome," him and the writers were constantly ruining the character Cordelia Chase. The storyline in Season 4 was different, but not in a good way.

Joss was a dick and then Cordy died.

I've already expressed my hatred for Joss Whedon on fanpop, so I don't need to do it here.

LOATHE ENTIRELY!!!"

p.s. I don't fully hate him, after all he did create this whole Buffyverse which I love!!!
I just can't forgive him for what he did to my favourite character of all time, of anything ever!!!!!!
