Sea level rise.

It has been stated that there has been a 3. 4 mm rise in sea level each year for the last few decades. That does not sound like much until you work it out to be a 102 mm rise in sea level.

We're safe, we're both inland.
 
Don't be too sure about how safe you are. Our infrastructure is at risk. For example, the runways at Kennedy International Airport are at a 12 foot altitude above sea level. If it gets a little higher, it could close during bad weather. If it goes on longer, they might have to relocate it. My house is at a 429 foot altitude but there would be no food in the supermarkets the sea level got to 300 feet above where it is now because no trucks could get the the Ontario Food Terminal.

It’s a shame seeing how much of the world is being negatively impacted by all this rapid and radical ecological change. I even think to the small things, like how it barely snowed in my area at all this past winter (a day or two, tops). Growing up, it would snow every few days.

Now it’s all 40s-50s (Fahrenheit) throughout the Winter.

The salinity is a big time issue on farms here but they are really starting to get the picture and have planted loads of trees and using desalinated water from their salt lakes and dams. There is a whole lot of progress in the last few years as the old ways die off and technology takes over. Its no good to leave the sick land to fend for itself.

The solution is more management of the new environment rather than trying to fix what is already done.
 
Parts of where I live are below high tide level. That, combined with a water table that is very close to the surface, could turn nasty.
 
Answer me this.......so when the ice in your glass melts does the glass overflow? Isn't that the same scenario as icebergs melting in the sea? The melting of the ice doesn't add anything as the water is only changing its state from a solid to a liquid. The amount of mass is the same. 🧊🌊

Ha Ha Ha Ha. The water might overflow but the glass will not!
Good point Moptop except some/ a lot of the iceberg is above the waterline.

Ice can float on top of liquid water, but once it melts, the total amount of liquid will rise. Also, glaciers can be held steady on land, but when liquefied, will flow to the sea. So it's more about where the mass is and where it goes.

Ice that is in the sea already makes no difference. Ice from the permanent ice caps of Greenland and Antarctica, plus glaciers on land, does, because that water is not in the sea currently.

When that happens, we'll literally be back in the Dark Ages. Sometimes I think those Doomsday preppers have it right!

Thats true. Especially considering all the space ship imagery. The arc is old-school, bring on the fire thrusters!

Yeah, since the earth is getting hotter, wouldn't the new water evaporate anyway? Then we will just swim in sweat instead of seawater.. i think i'd prefer the seawater.
 
If we have some form of a new younger dryas I'd rather be coastline than inland.

I can't swim nor do I fancy the idea of being eaten by a shark. I'll take the sweat. 😄
