I was going to put this in angel season 1 but thought it might be better here. In the UK, season one of Angel is an 18, rather than the 15s that Buffy had. Can anyone give me a description of why? More violence, sex bad language etc. My sister is 12 coming up to 13 and has watched Buffy seasons 1-7 (my influence!), so is there anything in Angel that is worse than Buffy? I mean, season 6 of Buffy was pretty intense and she seemed to handle that (or it went over her head).

Thanks.

I believe there's only one disk that's been certified 18, the fifth one if I'm not mistaked. I don't know why it was rated higher than the others, it's quite possible that there was only one episode that they thought required an 18 certificate. 🙂

Unsure what specifically they have a problem with, however Angel Season 1 is a supernatural detective noir that has a serious dose of torture, realistic violence, and some sexual situations that are very adult.

The sexual stuff is nothing to the level of Spike and Buffys voyeur sex scenes or the infamous 'Seeing Red', but definitely an adult take on sexuality. I wonder if their issue is the pretty damn brutal torture scenes that take place in several episodes.

Hope that helps.

I know why. It's disc 5 that's a 15, and it's because of Faith torturing Wesley. After that ordeal years ago when that Child's Play movie caused those kids to tie that young boy to the railway track..? They're more careful with the ratings they give things. I can't remember how I learned this..? I think it was in RE. Huh.

Ditto its because of the episode where Faith tortures Wesley, it makes sense for it to be an 18, there are some pretty graphic scenes in there. I think it was right that they made that episode rated an 18.

Well, I first watched it when I was 11, and I'm okay. A little insane, maybe, but I don't blame that. 😛
