"Dollhouse" makes room for cast additions

By James Hibberd | 29 August 2009 @ 10:36 am EDT

This fall, "Dollhouse" is going to be a geek-TV haven.

Josh Whedon, creator of the Fox series about a futuristic laboratory that rewrites people's memories, has chosen actors from the network's recently canceled "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" and Syfy's concluded "Battlestar Galactica" to join the show.

Most notably, he's recruited "Terminator" fan favorite Summer Glau, whom he previously cast in Fox's "Firefly." Glau plays Bennett, a Dollhouse employee who shares a secret past with Eliza Dushku's Echo.

Jamie Bamber (from "Battlestar") will appear as a charismatic businessman who is Echo's new husband. Michael Hogan ("Battlestar") comes to Dollhouse hoping to stop a psychotic family member's killing spree. Alexis Denisof ("Angel") is cast as a U.S. senator leading a witch hunt to track down the underground organization. Keith Carradine ("Dexter") plays the nemesis of Dollhouse leader Adelle.

"Dollhouse" struggled on Friday nights last season, and the network is hoping the cast additions, along with some creative tweaks, will help the show gain a broader audience.

Who the hell is Josh Whedon?
Dumbass "journalists" or their fact checkers and copy editors have often gotten his name wrong.

Some pretty major spoilers about what's in store for the cast next year on Dollhouse:

Paul is going to be uncomfortable working at the Dollhouse and his depression is going to lead him to take in a lot of whiskey (which may or may not actually make it to air since Amy Acker is concerned about filming this).

Topher is going to put in his two week notice at the Dollhouse when he get cast to play the lead character on That 70's Show.

Victor and Sierra's relationship is going to quickly go south when Sierra sleeps with Victor and he turns evil (people are already complaining that Joss is recycling storylines here).

Adelle's position as head of the Dollhouse is going to be usurped by that annoying guy that used to do the Dell Computer commercials a few years back. Adelle is going to be forced to become a Doll herself, and whenever a client comes along looking for a doll, the new head of Dollhouse will tell them, "Dude, you're gettin' Adelle."

Boyd is going to be written out of the series when it is discovered I can't come up with a good joke about him.

Finally, Echo is going to take on the identity of a Priest after an attempt to smuggle drugs goes wrong. She eventually gets on Oceanic Flight 815 and winds up on a crazy island only to later be killed by a cloud of smoke.

Hey, ever hear of spoiler tags? Oh well, those spoilers sound pretty cool. I'm especially psyched about Adelle's storyline.
Wow, I guess they're really trying to draw in the entire nerd community for the next 2 of Dollhouse! Personally, I like that. First of all, yaaaay Alexis Denisof, but besides that, I could really see some people being drawn to the show because of certain guest actors, maybe especially the Battlestar Galactica fans.

Well, everything that helps to get the show not cancelled! Now that I finally finished s1 I'm so completely in love with Dollhouse and would not appreciate to see it cancelled after only another 12 episodes.

You know, I love the returning Whedom alum, but I'm much more intrigued/excited about the characters they'll play. I'm particularly excited to see Adelle have a 'nemesis.' In the Dollhouse, Adelle's word is law. It will be exciting to see her pitted against someone that doesn't answer to her. And I'm sure being the executive in charge of another dollhouse, this person will be a formidable opponent.

Revolver, it took me a couple seconds after I read those to figure out you were joking!
"Whoa, how is Victor going to sleep with her if they are dolls? They won't know what the heck they are doing."
lol don't worry Buffy, you are not alone.
