Did they know going into it that Season two was the last season?

The storyline of the politician being a doll and Echo saving the woman from jail, both seem like they could have been spread over their own arc, if not season. It feels all very rushed and big. Its as if these storylines they wanted to write over many seasons had to be squished into a few episodes.

I am surprised at how much of season two I have either completely forgotten or never saw in the first place. The only thing that feels consistent and fitting is Tophers storyline, showing how Epitaph One came to be. (I haven't finished s2 again yet, spoilers are fine though).

About half-way through S2 they were told it wasn't getting renewed, which is why the 'war between the Dollhouses' plotline of S2 is wrapped up so quickly,
That leads into the sudden time jump of several months before moving on with the denouement and various revelations.

Thanks! That makes it make a bit more sense. It did seem weird to have just skipped all the time that Echo was free before the jail break. Bennett's story felt like it could have been a more drawn out and big reveal too, had they had the time. Although I didnt like her much, she ended up being important.

I just finished season 2 tonight, and it was a better show than I remembered it being. Im glad it got to wrap up at least. Its always more satisfying when there is an ending.
