Season 4 reboot

I have to say Season 4 has to be my least favorite season of Angel (Season 3 being my second least favorite) and it remains difficult for me to watch it every time. The only good things that came out of it was the badass evolution of Wesley and the idea at the very end of Angel and the gang taking over Wolfram Hart. But with that aside, which elements of Season 4 do you think should have been altered to make the overall season better?
 
Season 4 is one of my favorites. But I HATED the evil Cordy arc. I would so change it. I don't mind Jasmine, I don't mind that much for Connor (don't like him, but I hate him more in season 3).

I didn't like the fact that everybody is falling apart. I rather seeing them all as friends, and not each in their own thing. I think it's been affected by season 3, which I don't like at all.
 
Season 4 is probably my favorite Angel season, I love how grand and operatic it is. Watching the journey (now on dvd that is) in a row is nothing short of breathtaking to me. Taking you through quite the ride!

But to adress the questio on of the matter here:

The Cordy/Connor thing (though I've learned to tolerate it. I still cringe at the "Apocalypse, nowish" scene however) should go.

For me an evil Cordy would have been far more interesting minus the evil spawn. I get why they made it that way, not much to do about Charisma being pregnant, but honestly there must've been some alternative route...

I really don't mind the concept of Cordelia going evil - because I think it could have been truly intriguing - but all in all s4 fails a bit in that aspect because of the pregnancy/Connor/life earned/Jasmine blah blah blah - partly because you could tell that Charisma (a perfectly proficient actress) does not seem to be buying into her evil role. The resentment she seems to have held for making her pregnancy demonic on the show appears to seep into her performance which is a shame (albeit understandable).
And that's where a lot of the plot line falls completely flat for me at least.

Re-think and re-arrange, I wish I could have told Whedon and co way back when 🙂


(and side notes - what really, really needed to go was the:
A.) Horrible black dress CC wears when her pregnancy is revealed. Carnival fortune teller, anyone? Puh-lease, it was ridiculous.
B.) The "now give mama some sugar" comment she gives the Beast. Then proceeds by leaning in fora smooch. I mean - whaaaat?Seriously.What were they thinking there? If indeed they were thinking at all.)
 
If I were rebooting Season 4, my first change would have been to have Angel spend at least 3 or 4 episodes in a definitely impaired, weakened condition.t the very least walking with a cane during his recuperation. He was trapped underwater, unable to feed, for the entire summer. There's no way that he should have recovered as quickly as he did. Second, Angel would not have thrown Connor out, he should have taken him to a large, dark, secluded space, where they wouldn't be disturbed, and beat the mortal s**t out of him, then used the month that it would have taken the boy to heal (My version of Season 4 would be known as the "Recuperation Season" because of all of the healing that would have been going on) to straighten his young ass out and to make it crystal clear, on threat of an even worse beating, that Cordy was Papa's private property, and Papa wasn't sharing. Then Angel would take Cordy off to some quiet, secluded place, and they would have hashed out their feelings for each other, once and for all. There would have been no Jasmine, and no end of the world threats. Apocalypses are the Slayer's thing. Angel helps the helpless. The only way that he saves the world is one victim at a time. When Wolfram & Hart mad Angel the offer that he couldn't refuse, he would have surprised everybody by refusing and walking away with Cordy on one arm and Connor on the other, laughing.

(What about the Faith's return and the amulet that was so vital to Buffy's victory in Sunnydale, you ask? Those are explained in my Season 7 Reboot)
 
Season 4 would have been made a LOT better for me if we hadn't gotten to see the Evil Cordy/Connor/Jasmine storyline. That was sooo awful. 🙁 It's sad 'cause Season 4 has a lot of good episodes in the beginning of the season, and then it takes a total nosedive.
 
I loved season 4. I would never think about "rebooting" it, if I had to make some changes it would be to take away evil Cordelia and that whole Jasmine saga. It has to flaws just like every Buffy and Angel season, but I don't think its as bad as people say
 
I hate Jasmine I hate what they did to Cordy and sometimes I flat out hate Connor here but I still love this season. I am so weird when it comes to it I kind of dread the stuff that is going to happen yet I can't wait to watch it. Has some great faith moments, Wes & Lilah the whole gang in a sense. I think it says a lot that I still love the season outside matters like what apparently happened to Charisma clouded my judgement before but when I look at it as just a season it is pretty good.
