Season 5-The Plan That Never Happened

Here is a bit of what might of happened if Angel wasn't cancelled.In an article, Joss revealed what was supposed to happen in the future of Angel season 5.This storyline was already planned by Joss, before the news was told to him, that Angel was cancelled.I couldn't find the article, but I still remember what the article said.Joss said that Oz would come back, and he would help Nina, a fellow werewolf, go through all the hard times, of being a monster.He would become her rehab doctor.They would become a couple.Willow was supposed to come and perform a spell on Illyria.She would cast a spell, that would split Illyria.There would be one Illyria, and one Fred.They would be their own selves.I forgot what the rest were.But If you could find the article, please post it here.Were you satisfied, with the way Angel came about, after it was cancelled?Or did you want the original plan to happen?I wanted the original plan to happen.But unfortunatley ATS was cancelled.I really wanted all those events to happen.Willow's return...Fred's return...The Werewolf couple...Oz's return...How bout you?

Yeah I'm pretty sure that is from something some fan thought she heard Jeff Bell say at a convention. I can find the article from an old posting on the boards, but the link seems to be dead.

Jeff Bell, executive producer of Angel, has already stated that Joss planned to bring Seth back in season five of for the role of Oz, and perhaps for season six. His return would make sense especially because of Nina, a werewolf that was introduced early in season five. Oz would have been a perfect guide in helping her learn how to control what was inside her, just as he did. After appearing in "Smile Time", however, Nina seems to have disappeared from the scene.

I think Illyria should have stayed that way, without bringing Fred back. It just added a punch to "Fred is gone, and now we have this thing"...Wes was so depressed, and it was great to see Alexis play Wes that way. I thought Illyria for keeps was better than bringing Fred back in the end...Fred probably would have died if the season finale was the same.....and besides, Illyria is waaaay cooler than Fred...

Oz thing...not intersted in. The werewolf story is cool. I just don't really like what Seth adds to the show. Not like I have anything against him. He just wasn't one of my favorite characters. Bringing back Fred would have been nice. But with Wesley gone it is just kind of sad and would ruin the Illyria drama. Though the interaction between the two characters(Fred/Illyria) would have been cool! I am not happy that Angel was cancelled(at all) but I am satisified to a point with the show's end. Joss and the whole Angel team did a great job finishing the series.

And the idea of Willow bringing Fred back to life - even if it meant splitting her from Illyria - does not sit right with me, considering what Willow had went through after bringing Buffy back to the dead. That's interesting, because all the interviews I read say that Fred IS dead and would not have come back: however Illyria would have been her more often.

I'm glad neither of the two was achieved.

Not Fade Away just really hit the mark for me, and to have it any different would ruin it.

Season 5 should have had some guest appearances though. More Andrew, Dawn, Willow, Giles and Buffy! I would love to see Buffy's face when she realizes Spike is alive and working with Angel.

Everyone always pitched the idea of Buffy & the Slayerettes appearing to fight against the army of demons, and I really really really would have liked that. I can just imagine Buffy jumping down from the building, "Hey damsel in distress, need any backup?". That would have been fricken amazing! Although I know just realized I totally contradicted myself from the second paragraph, but only changing that!

Oz back: Oz and Angel together. 2 people that are known for not really being the most talkative of people forced to interact... minor comedic potential. As for Nina: OH! The drama of her and Oz and Angel love triangle. Please.

I had also heard that Illyria was permanent, but goes to being Fred more often. I LOVE Illyria. I'm glad Amy Acker finally got to play someone cool. Minor potential for interaction with the one who took her form. Unless the writers could have come up with a way to soap-operaize some sort of story, that would have been cool. So, I don't know where I stand. Probably cool.

I get the odd feeling that so many people are so desperate to bring back Fred that they are willing to forget about the consequences of resurrecting the dead, as shown in BtVS's Season 6 and Darla's storyline in AtS's Season 2. Apparently, so did Whedon, when he thought up the idea of bringing Fred back for AtS's S6. Or else he planned to show the consequences of Fred's resurrection.

And I still cannot see Willow being willing to resurrect Fred, after the trauma of Buffy's resurrection. Sorry, but the "favor" excuse doesn't work.

Apparently, so did Whedon, when he thought up the idea of bringing Fred back for AtS's S6.

To be honest I'm still waiting for the evidence Joss actually said this.

There was a story once that some fan claimed he heard Jeff Bell say, he thought this was the way Joss would go, but even if it's true, Joss's writers have been wrong about interpretations of the Whedon plan before.

Remember when they were saying Season 7 would be less dark, with more Dawn, and a back to the beginning high school kind of flavour.

Even second in command Marti Noxon doesn't have a total fix on what's happening in Joss's mind.

Remember, she's reponsible for the famous quote, where she says the slayer line can only pass through one slayer. Season 7 came about, and made her a liar.

No, I mean Season 7 made the statement she made concerning the one slayer thing untrue. I don't mean she intentionally lied.

I'm only saying I get the impression the only person who really knows what Joss is up to is Joss.

So a quote by Jeff Bell is interesting, but it isn't a quote from Joss. And this Oz, Willow, Illyria thing wasn't even a quote from Bell. As I understand it, it was a quote from a fan who says she heard Jeff Bell say something at a convention.

If Joss himself ever said anything to lend credibility to the rumour, please, somebody, post a link. I'd love to read it.

I think it was pretty obvious that the big fight would be with Illyria and to bring Fred back and I can even believe the spell thing to split them in two. I dislike the OZ/Nina idea though. I guess we'll never truly know how it could have all gone down......ahh well such is life.

I disagree. For me, BtVS's Season 7 was complex, not inconsistent. However, I could honestly say that AtS's Season 5 was inconsistent "“ especially during the last third of the season.

when i watched it i got the feeling that fred was gone and never ever coming back......
i dont think i would have wanted to see her come back to be honest
I did miss her... but her death scene was sooooooooooo good...... i dont mean that in a sick way what i mean was it was great acting and a big moment in angel...
