Okay, I am kinda confused about which is the true Season 6 arc. Is it the Willow/Magic arc, or the Evil Trio arc? Or Neither? Are they all pretty much Single episodes? I'm thinking the season 6 arc is the Willow/Magic arc, as it starts way back in Bargaining, and the Evil Trio was just thrown in as a decoy.

A little bit of both. Like most seasons there were two arcs that ultimately ran into one. Season 3, for example, had the Faith arc and the Mayor arc until the two combined for the end of the season. In season 6 you had the Willow arc and the Trio arc which appeared to be seperate issues until Warren killed Tara and set Willow on her path.

It was pretty much the usual thing for there to be a Little Bad (Spike, Faith, The Initiative/Maggie Walsh, the Trio) and a Big Bad (Angelus, The Mayor, Adam and Dark Willow) each year. It is even possible to assume that season 5's Little Bad could be seen as being Joyce's health problems as opposed to the Big Bad of Glory.

There were only twelve episodes in season 1 and so there wasn't much time to develop much of an arc, beyond the general theme of the Master, so the Little Bad idea doesn't really apply there. The main exception was season 7 where it is pretty much just the First all the way through.

Agree 100%. I guess Caleb could be the S7 'little bad'

I couldn't have said it any better. But I think they should of kept Tara!!!! Everytime I liked somebody on Angel and Buffy they die!!!!! :bawling: :bawling: :bawling: I'm an omen!!!:bawling: :bawling: :bawling: Anya, Tara, Cordelia, Fred, Buffy, but she kept coming back, Lilah..................

I'm not sure i get the point of this thread.

What was the arc?
The whole freaking show....lol

Thereis a theme to each season, granted but you cannot evaluate that whole season down to a single arc, or even two.
Its the character interplay. The growth of them.

Season 6 had Buffy's issue of feeling alone, not actually feeling anything, neglecting Dawn, neglecting her friends. The Trio. Willows addiction. Willows abuse. Buffy's relationships with all the characters, as well as theincidentals.
I dont think any season is just about the arc. The lives of the people are the 'arc', the monsters and the 'Big Bads', they are the things built around that.

Well, the main storyline was, as said above, character development. Buffy is dealing with coming back from Heaven, Willow is dealing with romantic/black magick abuse, Xander is dealing with repressed marriage memories.... it all just spirals.

I would say the final arc would be Willow's tumble downwards, as a result of the Trio.

i personaly think. there both main stories....deside to coinside with eachother...resulting in willow being the big bad....hummmm dark willow...
( warren....grrrrrrrrrr........tara....) warren and the trios thirst for power...resulting in murder x2 ....wareen changes after the death of catrina....after he gets away with it...he feels invinsable he makes the laws...
willows battle with the magic within..and her love for tara...waren and tara = willow big bad....

yea i agree it woz both they put in the trio thing because they could then use it as the setup for willow becoming the big bad.and because it woz suppose make buffy dealing with her whole death thing even harder!

I've almost forgoetten the topic but all this talk of arcs made me want to make a list of all the main ones...

Buffy Season 1
The Master attempting to free himself.

Buffy Season 2
Angel becoming Angelus
Spike's attempts to kill Buffy

Buffy Season 3
Faiths fall to the dark side
The assention of the Mayor

Buffy Season 4
The initiative experiment on demons

Buffy Season 5
Glory attempting to retrieve the key (dawn)
Joyce's illness and death

Buffy Season 6
Willows fight with dark magic
The Trio (sort of) attempting to kill Buffy

Buffy Season 7
The First's attempt to destroy the slayer line

Angel Season 1
None?

Angel Season 2
Angels relationship with Darla

Angel Season 3
Darla's pregnancy/Connor

Angel Season 4
Jasmine's attempt to rule Earth

Angel Season 5
Angels battle with Wolfram and Hart/The Black Thorn

It's not a definitive list, most people will disagree on some. It's hard to summarize some of them in a senetence. Some interesting things I noticed from this:

-Angel season 1 the only one without a main arc? I guess there was a sort of battle with Wolfram and Hart, the opener and finale being about this, but really all the Angel seasons have that but with a main arc over the top of it.
-Buffy season 5 was the only one with a realistic main arc.
-Buffy season 6 was the only one where the main arc was not directed at the main character (Buffy or Angel) more than anyone else, because it was directed at Willow.

I believe it belonged to both. I can't really state which one it was more about, it's more likely to be events that were tied into it. The Trio was the main focus for quite sometime and they caused the Dark Willow happenings.

The true arc of this season is life and growing however. The Trio wasn't just thrown in but without the Trio there wouldn't be the whole drama of Tara dying or Willow turning evil.

It was mostly about life and Willow and the Trio all at once which pretty much give you an active and fully packed season for ya.

i think that the whole magic/Willow thing was the season 6 arc as it mainly started from the beginning of season 6 where she brought back Buffy and was sure that she could do it and didnt care what she had to do to do it.the evil Trio thing was a not so important arc that they put in to make things worse for Buffy, and also so that they could then combine the two arcs at the end of the season to make it a big end of season finish, which is what they do for quite a few of their seasons.so yeah the main arc was the magic/Willow thing which led to the big end of season thing, but they also needed the evil Trio arc to get to that stage.

Wasn't season 6 about bunnies?

Definitely thought the arc was bunnies searching for freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111:thumb:

From what I gathered (especially from the DVDs), the "big bad" was life itself in Season 6. It was about all of the crap people have to deal with in normal lives, monsters aside. Buffy had to get a job, borrow money from Giles, deal with the death of her mother, neglected Dawn, etc. It was a really dark season, and I believe they lightened up a little with Season 7 because many fans complained. I liked it, though. 🙂

I think the arc is tara dying and willow going all addicted to magic and evil willow. But the trio was the reason why willow went evil at the end cuz they shot tara. The trio did play a part in s6 even tho their master plans were just funny. season six was a great season it went to a dark place. Makes sence since the gang grew up. I'm glad the writers and joss and the actors were not afraif to show that dark side.
