Well, kind of a by-the-numbers finale for a fairly good season huh? Jack does the right thing, has to disobey orders, go rogue (of course) to do it.

I'm glad he got a chance to chew out Heller.

And Chloe. At first I was thinking she'd been drugged, programmed or something...but that almost seemed too much for even this show. But then when she was sitting up, talking to Morris, said "I'm fine", you just knew...

I am GLAD this season is finally over! The biggest mistake to this season was the final of last season. Kidnapping Jack then bringing him back 20 months later?? Dumb, dumb, dumb oh did I mention dumb idea!?!
This season was hampered right from the start because of Jack's condition which by the grace of God got better as the day went on? Now I have overlooked a lot of stuff this show has done in the past but wow were the writers ever reaching for us to overlook this year!
Next year better not even involve CTU or the President. Move on and the shift was gift wrapped half way thru the last hour of the show...daddy is dead (feel real cheated that Jack didn't give him that shotgun hug I was hoping for) so who inherits the 'Bauer empire'...Jack does. Who were the partners in the plot to always overthrow the government? Now Jack has his own resources to go after them.
One question where did Milo's brother go when Nadia had to answer the phone? I'm curious because what was the need for that scene at all? As for Chloe pregnant, seriously?!? Lame, lame, lame. Doyle is now blind so he's out. Buchanan and the missus are moving to the country. The VP is still a dick. And that shallow attempt at bravado by the Chinese guy saying his government will not abandon him...pleeease! His desk was already emptied and a new guy assigned.
The only thing that I can see why Jack confronted Heller is that look of epiphany on his face looking over the edge of the cliff then looking out to the ocean. Maybe he now realises he is cursed...cursed to never have love and only live the life of a warrior.

Yeah, Chloe preggers is fairly lame, I guess. I thought Chloe having an ex, out of the blue was lame. A not so fine line between clever and...lame.

And Milo's bro disappearing was way too weird. He must be significant. It's like the Audrey post-mortem dossier Jack was reviewing.

Jack on the warpath with his own resources could be interesting I guess.

I think the only story that could be of any significance for next year to give the series a much needed kick in the arse would be for Jack to go after the Mountain Men (private American militia units). In season 5 the terrorists used them at one point. It would bring some 'realism' back to the series because it would not have to be hi tech, CTU satelitte gizmo geek language. It could be just plain ol' fashion mano a mano basic story. The only problem would be what would be the target?
