offers possible answers to some of the Season 7 controversies I've seen discussed on this board.

For instance

Some people don't hear SMG's voice when Buffy is speaking to Xander and Willow telepathically in Showtime.

Goofs Guide says;

# About SMG voice sounding all wrong: Apparently the voice wasn't SMG in the episodes that went on the net, the so called "wildfeed", but the voice was the right one when the episode was aired in the US. Don't know why though.

Here's some more.

# Regarding Buffy "guessing" about holy water working when a stake did not: Giles stated that this creature was not human before it became a vampire. Since it is not human, it is likely that it's heart is not located where a human's would be, so a stake there would not hurt it. Buffy already saw that sunlight hurts it, so it is not that great a leap to believe that holy water and beheading will as well.

# The second time Buffy goes to fight the Turok Han, why doesn't she take any weapons, especially considering that it's already badly injured her? She knows stakes won't kill it, so was she planning to beat it to death? Editor's Note: Buffy was worried about the potential, she probably wasn't thinking straight, and more importantly, she wanted to find the girl and bring her back asap.

# How can Spike get drowned if he doesn't need oxygen? Editor's Note: Spike is experiencing the sensation of drowning without actually drowning. His lungs are filling up with water and causing the pain of drowning, but he won't die from it. It is actually a fantastic torture device to use because he can keep experiencing a horrible "death" without dying. His own personal hell if you will.
 
Good points. I totally agree with the Spike thing--I never really understood why that was a point of argument.

As for why she doesn't use weapons, I thought the whole point was for her to create a one-on-one arena type deal, where she fighs the vamp as an equal. I think bringing weapons into in would have undermined the lesson a bit. The point was that all you need is yourself, and make up the rest as you go along.

The voice change sounds weird--I don't get it.

And as for the Holy Water--she probably didn't know it would work for sure, but no harm in trying. Beheading just has to work--who can live without a head?
 
There isn't? Haven't you ever had even a teaspoon of water go down the wrong tube? It's agony! No reason to think Spike's reflexes wouldn't work the same way...
 
haven't you almost drowned to death?...its uncomfortable...but not painful like cutting off limb or whatever painful deaths that appear in the show...
 
yeah i totally agree with what it says regarding eve/first in the house. how did she do ANYTHING there that didn't make people suspicious? she needed to eat, unroll sleeping bag, etc.

this is why its farfetched that giles might be the first (just speculation) because how could he do all that without touching anything?

it says in amends jenny runs her hand through angel's hair... if that isnt a goof then good.. everything will be explained, ie. the first can actually take corporeal form.

Ooh I watched that one again, the one with Jenny. I didn't see anything where she physically altered any part of Angel, hair or otherwise. She did touch him, but it was pretty similar to where "Buffy" touched Spike. I think of it more as a ghostly stroking than skin-on-skin contact. I could easily be wrong.

The thing that I really don't understand is if Giles went to China to get the next potentital, how did he pull that off as a ghost? How can you buy a ticket, or buckle your airplance seat belt, or open the door of your taxi? But then someone here said that maybe that's why Chloe is gone (it's really the only reasonable explaination that I can see). She's possibly there as a physical intermediary who unsuspectingly helps Giles. He's a bright man--I'm sure he can think of something clever to have her help him. I just refuse to accept that Chloe has just left in any other possible scenario. She HAS to be with him, right? If she's with him, she can help him. Hmmm, maybe this is all a moot point because "Giles" can probably teleport to China, so what the hell does it matter.

As for Eve, it's sort of weird, but not totally implausible. It's not like if my friend doesn't eat in front of me at a slumber party that I think she's the first evil in the universe. They all seemed pretty confused about what the First was, and what it could do, up until that point. Rona didn't even know it had to assume the form of those who had died. Also, Even can disappear, so that sure comes in handy. Poof out for five minutes and then poof back in. "Oh, I just had to get something to eat..." I'm sure it's very clever.

Also, the improvised beheading with the barbed wire was a brand new way to kill a vampire -- tough to come up with in the middle of the 7th season. (I don't think any vamp or demon in general has ever been garrotted before on BtVS. Anyone know?)
 
Alright let me clear u pthe whole "Spike drowning" scene. It was edited from the one they shot with. The scene was originally shot with this being HOLY WATER. The scene had Spike smoking and he was really cut up and lots of blood,etc. It of course became too gory for television and they had to edit it by changing it to regular water ,so his vicious wounds would not occur. Holy water would hurt Spike a lot, especially if it is going in your lungs.
 
That doesn't make sense either, though.

If the Uber Vamp was holding Spike's head under the holy water, wouldn't he also burn?
 
You really don't need to breathe to get water into your lungs, you only need to have nostrils and an open mouth like Spike had
 
On the Spike thing... the point isn't that water in the lungs wouldn't be painful. We just know Spike DOESN'T breath. Angel said in episode 1.12 that he didn't have breath.
 
Spike smokes. He has breath.

I'll just add that it's not a necessary function for him to live.
 
And I'm sure we all know that Angel spent all of last summer under water and he seemed pretty fine down there, other than the blood withdrawls and the going crazy and stuff.
