Season 7 vs. Season 8: Which do you prefer?

Weird question I know since Season 7 is televised and Season 8 is a comic series but I wanna know in personal taste's & opinions

Définitively season 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this season there is action, love, the battles are great and i love because spike save the world....
 
Season 8 for me sacrificed 7 yrs of BtVS and 5 yrs of AtS just to connect the verse to Fray. Twelve Tv seasons for an eight issue comics series (no matter how great it is)

I hate S8 with a passion of a thousand suns.

I prefer Season 7 for several reasons, the most obvious, of course, being that it was "real" instead of just images on paper. Also, I've always felt a little robbed by the general story line of Season 8. For one thing, minor in the big scheme of things as it might have been, I really wanted to know more about the Immortal (I still do)Then there's the time lapse between the two seasons, and all of the things that went on during that time, things that I personally believe were important in the ongoing story of Buffy and their friends. Where did they go immediately after the battle? How did they mourn the loss of their friends and loved ones? How did they end up with a small army living in the Scottish highlands in a castle equipped with all that modern technology?

Those and a dozen more unanswered, and not even MENTIONED, questions just made me feel like I had come in in the middle of a movie. Somewhat confused and with the distinct feeling that I had lost something important, and most likely wouldn't ever get it back.
 
You know, if it hadn't been for The Chain and Wolves at the Gate I might have said season 7, but the brilliance or those stories outshine most season 7 moments. So I want to say season 8, but it's not a clear winner.

If I did a marathon watch of season 7, specielly the last few episodes, I would probably be more into season 7, and vice versa. Because it takes me a while to get into the rythm of the different mediums, and right now, I'm into comics. If season 10 was on TV, and I started to watch it, I would have a easier time forgetting the comics.

I'll try to clearify; when I watch a lot of movies for a while, comics, TV and books seem far away. But sometimes I get on a book high, and that's the medium for me. Same with TV and comics. I adapt to one medium, forgetting about the other.

Buffy doesn't really exist for me on TV anymore. SMG isn't necassarily Buffy for me, it's Jeanty's Buffy that Buffy, if you know what I mean. The faces, the voices, it's fading.

But, let's ignore I just said that. Because season 7 was a hard season for me to like before the comics too. I just didn't connect with the characters. I didn't do that much more during season 8 either, but Wolves at the Gate is what makes season 8 stand out. Without it, it would be a much closer race. Specially if I watched Help, or some other emotional episode or scene.

And season 2 & 5 will probably always be my favorite seasons, no matter how many comic seasons they make. So the medium is just a small part of it, but it is affecting my thinking.

Agreed and would include ''No Future for you'' as another reason why Season 8 is more true to character than Season 7 which had loads of scoobies acting our of character.

In saying that Season 8 took a real dive especially with the gimmicky Lesbian tryst, and how they destroyed the character of Angel.

I just think of the lesbianism as a way to move the plot forward, not as a gimmick. It was both a fun thing to do and a way to move Satsu & Buffy's relationship forward so they were able to explore Buffy's character in a new light.

No, I meant season 10, since season 9 already started. If they made season 10 for TV I would have a easier time forgetting the comics.
 
Season Eight! It's far more enjoyable and the Scoobies play a bigger role in it.
 
S7. It's not even a competition for me. Save for one or two glorious arcs, S8 was absolutely terrible. I'm also not fond of American comics (give me manga any day), and the art doesn't exactly help its case.
 
No competition there. For once, S7 is my 2nd all-time fave season. Also, I don't know if it's because it is in comics, but I have a hard time understanding what's happening in S8. I have to read from the first comic everytime I buy a new one because other wise I don't understand the flow. Never happened when I was reading mangas, so it must be the story itself...

And as much as a I love Dawn, making her a giant was just not doing it for me... And Buffy and Satsu?? Not doing it either.... That was "jumping the shark" imo...
 
I'm confused. I have never read any of the comics...where does the animated series come into this? Is it canon? Are the S8 comics the same as the S8 animated series?

The animated series was 19 episodes, which are interpretations of the first 19 issues. I say interpretations, because they are. They were made by people who made no contact with Joss or anyone working with the comics, as far as I know. And they were made before season 8 finished, which means they couldnhave cut out something important. They did cut out some panels and lines. Not sure how that effected the story, I never saw it. I just saw a few clips, and it seemed horrible, so I'm not sure when I will watch it. I also feel it's wrong that they're selling it as season 8, when basicaly it's a interpretation of it.

Some people say it's good though. Doesn't seem like they will make anymore.

The BtVS animated series is unrelated to the S8 comics, you're thinking of the S8 motion comic.
Both are pretty awful. But if someone put a gun to my head I would choose season 8, it had some pretty good arcs like "No Future for You" and that issue where they payed homage to the potential animated series was neat

.

Rock... meet hard place.

Hm, preference between 7 and 8... *ponders* It's a hard choice since I'm not a fan of either one was weird, the other was just bad... but if I had to make a choice I'm going to surprise myself by saying season 8 I believe. There was just more interesting things happening and even if it was a little bit 'out there' at times it made for more interesting reading than season 7 did for watching, IMO.

I know that's what they're called, but Cast No Shadow didn't seem to. It was pretty clear she meant the motion comic.
