Am I the only one who feels that we've missed a lot of valuable story line in Season 8 because of where Issue 1 began? I would really like to know what happened after the battle, who went where, how the loss of comrades and friends, not to mention lovers was handled, who went where and why, how the Slayers wound up in that castle in Scotland, why Andrew thought it would be "hilarious" for the phony Buffy to be in Rome with the Immortal, whether he actually told anyone that Spike was with Angel in LA...

Am I the only one?
 
No, but not all of us expected to have everything laid out in a nice, neat, one-issue catchup. I figure we'll find out along the way (at least, as much of it as matters,) and it'll all make sense. We didn't always get detailed explanations all at once on the show, either, and, personally, I prefer that approach.
 
It could be interesting to see when, where and how new characters like Satsu and Renee were introduced to the group.

I am curious to learn why they are in Scotland and who is giving them the money for technology and supplies. Maybe Scotland is just a relatively safe country with a low demon population - good place to set up base - and they wanted to be kinda near Giles.
 
I am curious what Buffy and the gangs reaction to finding out that Spike was still alive is. Do they know that he is? Did Andrew tell them? I have so many questions.
 
Currently where the comic timeline is I don't think they know about Spike...but I'm really looking forward to Joss getting all 'splainy!

Yeah. Andrew probably told Giles, who covered the whole thing up to keep Buffy and Spike apart.
i would love to know all that, we did miss alot...i'm kinda curious on all that, and about Dawns Story in college, and how Kennedy died...all that stuff they've told us in the comic but we dont know the details before it.
 
I thought there was talk about a separate comic written by Joss which filled the gaps? Or was that just a dream I had? I swear n4h talked about this around the time Issue #1 was released. I'm keen to find out what happened.. but currently satisfied with season 8 enough to wait.

I don't know about Buffy but that's happening in Angel. They are going to jump back to what happened right after the end of the fifth season.
 
Some of your questions were answered in Angel's "Damage" and "The Girl in Question." Willow's in Brazil, presumbably with Kennedy. Andrew looked into the Immortal's past with Angel and Spike and thought "Buffy" dating him would be hilarious based on the Immortal's history of boinking Angel & Spike's women and otherwise screwing them over (no pun intended).
 
But Andrew was lying to Spike about everything. When Angel had called Giles asking for Willow, Giles had answered that they didn't know where she were, which supports Willow being out of action for a year. No one knowing where she was.
 
Ah, but they didn't trust Angel by that point. Why would they tell him where Willow was? I think Andrew was more inclined to trust Spike because he wasn't technically working for W&H the way Angel was. And I think in another thread someone theorized that Spike knew that the Italy Buffy wasn't Buffy, but was also keeping it from Angel.

He did, and he also said that "they" (implying Buffy and all of her friends) no longer trusted Angel as long as he was associated with Wolfram & Hart. My personal theory, however, goes something like this: Andrew told Giles that Spike was alive as soon as he returned to England with Dana, and Giles swore him to secrecy (maybe on threat of the destruction of Andrew's autographed Timothy Dalton portfolio), because of his still vehement desire to keep Spike and Buffy separated (possibly he instigated the whole Buffy/Immortal deception for the same reason). To that end, he blocked Angel's efforts to communicate with Willow, knowing that, if she knew the truth about Spike, she would have no hesitation in assessing Buffy of the facts of the matter.

How's that for too much idle time on my hands and a too vivid imagination?

Right there with ya!
It's very possible as time goes on we will have a lot more backstory. I want to know what happened between the distruction of SD and where they are now. I guess all in good time.
 
I think the missing year makes the story extra interesting. It leaves room for speculation about what's happened. Something we don't know happened in the missing year could come back and bite the character in the ass and be a complete shock to us.
 
Darn tootin i wanna know the answers to these and many other questions! I also agree that they were never going to tell us in one big hit - well they had to hook us to the new story didn't they. I just wish they'd give us a few crumbs real soon!
 
We need one of those Heroes-type episodes like "4 months earlier" in comic book form!! you know when all your doubts are settled but without removing surprise factors and never like you imagined! If only...

I'd personally love to know what they all did after Chosen, like straight after it, Hospital then fast-food joint? Drove all the way to LA to see Angel? so many possibilities!
