Season 8: Ideas Thread- Warning Angel S5 Spoilers

This is the thread that you can post ideas for the overall season, plotwise. You can put in as much or as little as we want, but make them sensible (in other words, Buffy wont be taking a side-job as a stripper to earn money).

Also please could you post what time zone you are in and what times you are available on the internet please. We will soon have an 'ideas tennis' ...game? It helps staff to get to chat about what we should have in the season in more detail.

-----

I think Buffy, Dawn, Xander, Willow, Giles, Kennedy and maybe Andrew should all move to somewhere in the UK for now. Maybe London, or somewhere like Bath. Giles could have a house there and a friend who used to work for the Watchers Council (so not blown up) could offer Buffy, Dawn, Xander, Willow and Kennedy a chance to rent a house he owns. That way the gang have somewhere to live, Giles will know the surroundings and it will keep with Buffy apparently living in Europe. (Taken from Angel 5.02, but we'll have to ignore
what is said in 5.10
)

Im not sure about the whole ?new Hellmouth? thing, it?s a bit cliché as so to speak. Maybe there could just be a lot of evil around, like L.A. or maybe they can just continue with their lives and happen to interact with evil. Willow could start using her magic for more good, and sort of ?help the helpless? or even set up her own magic group. If she does go down the magic path she could meet up with the coven mentioned a few times in S7. Xander, could maybe try and get a job at a construction site, but with being one-eyed finding it hard and maybe doing temp jobs. Maybe Buffy could go off for two episodes to see her Dad in Spain (that?s where he is isn?t he?)

That sounds like a really good idea! Maybe the evil could be because of the witches coven? Also, during the series they could meet up with Oz cos we don't really know where he is (Do we?) and he's a great character.

(Timezone-GMT. I'm on 4-6pm weekdays and in the afternoons most weekends)

My first thought when I heard you were finally getting this Virtual 8 thing going was "This is no good. You've waited too long. There are too many Virtual Season 8's already out there."

After reading Faith's post however I've changed my mind. This could be interesting.

By starting late, you now have an opportunity the other V-8's didn't have. You now have an idea of where the scoobs actually are. You can follow the facts.

In the interest of doing that I would suggest, yes Giles and the coven in Britain, but allowing the rest of the scoobs to remain where they are until we know differently. (Unfortunately it would be necessary to read spoilers to be aware of future developments).

It would still be possible to do what Faith suggests, only differently. You could follow the Scoobs in their particular locations, but use an arc to point them towards one large meeting, and "Battle of Britain" in the finale.

Hey, I have an idea. Buffy, Faith, Dawn, Willow, Xander, Kennedy, Giles, and *Andrew* move to Cleavlend. Since the hellmouth is there. They live in an old apartment building that was full of vamps, but in the first episode the vampires are killed so they move there. Giles leaves within the first three episodes to do an academy in England. Kennedy leaves in mid-season since she feels left out with Faith & Buffy there. Dawn meets a boy named Josh on the train to Cleavlend. Towards the end we realise he is the only male slayer. in mid-season Josh gets bit by a vampire. Oz comes back. And other stuff happens. Such as Ethan coming back for an episode.

As nerd4hire already said, starting late is so much better than other VS8's going on at the moment because we can put an actual place to each character; The only problem is that they're slightly scattered, so unless we intend on doing a first episode where we flash to each and every character, we may want the season premiere to be an episode where something happens to bring them all together in one place.

Also, one eyed Xander would be pretty easy to fix if we do what AshSan said and had Willow start using magic for good; Because a one eyed Xander wouldn't be able to fight as well as a two eyed Xander. So, if he can fight better, he is doing good, so a spell to get his eye back would be for good. 😉 Might be a bit powerful, but with Kennedy's help (not magical, just emotional) now, I think Willow could definitely control it.

Most of all, let's bring Faith into it. Another slayer = More help = More possibly storylines.

I don't know...I kinda like the idea of all the different characters being in different locales...

Each episode could contain two stories based in two of the different locales....with the exception of the first episode of course...over-all...the stories could be building up to one major story arc that could begin, oh-say...midseason...
One episode could be a Buffy/Dawn story, paralleling with a Willow/Kennedy story, a Giles/Xander story paralleling with a Faith/Andrew story...maybe Giles and Andrew would be good...seeing Andrew as a "giles in training', or as Cordy coined it "Hey, look, it's Giles the Next Generation" when speaking of Wes...Also, a Faith/Xander matchup might be nice due to their former "history"...however...with Xander and Giles not completely seeing eye to eye, that would make things interesting, and can't you just see Andrew as Faith's sidekick...that would be comical!

As for evil without a Hellmouth...think about it...the forces of evil have to be joining together...I mean...the First Evil was destroyed...and now there are hundreds(thousands, is that what Andrew said) as opposed to just one(or two)....so the forces of evil have to be totally freaking out, and you just know they must be concocting a plan to rid the world of the slayers...and who knows...maybe they might just figure out how to do so...using Willow.
The forces of Evil could be led by former baddies such as Drusilla, D'Hoffran(sp???), Ethan, a newly vamped-slayer Dana(From Angel's "Damage"), and maybe an old Angel villian...all working for a yet-unseen new Big Bad...
Also..you could have remaining members of the Watcher's council go rogue and try to kidnap the new slayers to recapture their glory....the rogue Council members interacting with mostly Giles...this could all build to a major arc midseason where all the characters are brought together..

Just suggestions and ideas, take what you want from them...
Also...if anyone is interested in a Faith spin-off, get in touch with me...

Dawn should learn some magic, she should do a spell that accidently makes her boobs gigantic, and then she should make a movie called Eurotrip.

Be careful of Angel S5 spoilers, we havnt said anything specific but we've hinted.

As what Angel says in 5.10 is a while off we could make the time scale shorter. A5.01 started 19 days after "Chosen", so for 8.01 we could start just a few days. So we are what is normally 2 episodes ahead in terms of TV time. We could ship them all off all over the world in search of Slayers, or maybe just some free time.

I know money may be something we want to bring up so heres my idea:

Giles has a fair amount of money, he can use that.
Anya put all her stolen money in her and Xander's bank account (she stole in early S7) because she didnt want to return it and she thought he might take the blame if caught, she still kinda hated him then. (Xander and Anya strike me as the kind who would forgot about closing a joint-account)
Buffy's dad might send them some money,
or maybe tickets to Rome, where he might be
as a "well done on preventing the apocolypse" kind of thing.
Kennedy's parents give her money for the same reason.

Now we need to think of reasons why everyone is everyone. As I said
Buffy and Dawn could be in Rome because her dads there. Xander could be in Africa to get his eye back from the demon who gave Spike his soul back (joke). Willow and Kennedy- Um? Wanted to get a tan?

I dont think Willow should fix Xander's eye, it seems to much of an easy way out. Buffy's always been about real drama (as so to speak), so magic to fix an eye seems like an easy way out (repeating myself). Maybe they could try but fail.

I'd like to see Willow getting in touch with her "goddess" side, and she could be useful. In Chosen she said "I can sense them Buffy" in relation to the Slayers, so she could sense them. Then send psychic messages to Giles, or maybe an e-mail as her powers probably aren't that advanced.

As far as where did the money come from, and what are the Scoobies doing where they are, what's wrong with the obvious conclusions?

Giles is one of the few remaining active watchers. Is Wesley's dad active? I don't know? Doesn't matter really. One can still easily assume Giles can gain, or has gained access to the Watcher's assets.

If Giles and the Scoobs have retained an interest in the welfare of the Potentials, it's not too much to imagine Giles has the Scoobs off doing business related to that.

Even if the old watchers still exist, they'd still have to enlist the efforts of Buffy and the Scoobs. Giles group has the power now. The potentials would listen to them, and there's no way the remaining watchers (if there are any) would be dumb enough to take on the joined power of Buffy, Faith, Willow, Giles, the coven, and the Potentials.

None of this says Buffy couldn't still meet up with her Dad in Italy, Spain, or where ever, it just means she doesn't have do. She doesn't need him. And why should she? Remember Girl Power? Buffy worked in a fast food restaurant rather than bum money off her dad before. Why would she do it now?

I think for the first....let's say 6 episodes:

Willow & Kennedy are in Brazil
Xander & Faith are in Africa
Buffy & Dawn are in Rome
Andrew & Giles are in England

Each of them have a about 6 episode plot about these four monsters, who meet in Cleveland, or somewhere else hellmouthy, to do something apocolypicy. Which joins them all together again.

Also if anyone reads Ultimate X-Men, the new arc is called New Mutants, where it is just the X-Men recruiting mutants. Which might be our season eight?

I think the main plot for the season is the effect of the spell. In which the finale has them to de-activate the spell, which causes Buffy to loose her slayer powers. But not Faith 😉

I did write a half-baked season eight with a friend once, if you want to see those ideas?

I wasn't saying Buffy needed her dad or anything, just trying to come up with a reason why she was in Rome. She could just like Italy but thats not good enough 😛

I understand that Ash. All I'm saying is what's wrong with the reason they gave us. Here it is:

SPIKE

So, uh...you heard from Buffy lately?

ANDREW
Yeah. Of course, uh...she's in Rome. Dawn's in school there. Italian school.

SPIKE
Well. Rome, eh? Never pegged her for the expatriate show.

ANDREW
Yeah. She was rounding slayers up in Europe, decided she liked it there, I guess

Well ofcourse I think we should start off from chosen and see where the Scoobies go..Cleavland or England....

We should see them starting to rebuild a new watchers council, see which Potentials from Buffy are training the newly found slayers, have atleast 2 episodes with all of the scoobies in it then let them split up and go off to search.

Then go from what we learned in Angel Season5 in Damage with each of their locations.

Have them find out about Angel and co. taking over Wolferman and Hart

Have Andrew return from LA and tell the gang at one of their meetings about what went on.

And ofcourse it wouldve been nice if we could resurrect Anya...

Sorry nerd4hire, hadn't seen the eps, only seen a thread in Angel S5 discussion

No problem Ash. I understand completely. You poor European peoples; having to wait for your Angel Episodes. I feel for you. That's the way I feel when I hear a new season of Red Dwarf has come out.

But Back to the topic. I have a suggestion.

Perhaps it might be an idea to begin posting Polls derived from conclusions drawn from this thread.

I'll give you an example. Here's a possible poll:

A. Should the BB V-8 follow the story details pertaining to Buffy and the Scoobs as they are presented in Angel Season 5?

B. No. What the Angel writers say doesn't matter. It should be more an alternate reality. Spike marrying Anya in Cleveland is fine.

Here's another possible poll:

A. Should all the characters be grouped together in one specific geographical area (UK, Cleveland, LA) as much as possible?

B. Should the story be Global, with diffent connectable stories happening in different locations?

What I'm suggesting is this. Start with Polls on the most General topics. Gradually get more specific. In this way you can focus in on the direction the general group of people interested in this forum want to take.

Only your production staff should be allowed to post polls. If you don't have it that way, chaos will ensue.

Here's another poll I would suggest. Soon you're going to have the problem of having too many characters, and everyone is going to want to add one of their favourites.

Start a poll now. "What character could you live without". By the time you're ready to begin the specifics of your plot, you'll be able to decide what characters you can leave out without breaking too many hearts.

Yeah, we could do with disposable threads. As in open a poll, let it run its course and then delete it (saving the info) and starting a new one.

I will talk to Faith about it but shes got lots of Uni work to do.

I like the polls idea but for the charecters it would depend on the first pole as to where we should go, follow what was on Angel or be alternate. Then ofcourse we should keep to atleast the main scooby gang.

And im thinking when it starts if we ever plan on killing off a charecter or making them leave the fanfic for awhile we should hold a pole as to which charecters they think should die/leave and then bring it down to the last 2 and decide.

Yeah, you might be right Primal Slayer a poll might be the wrong way to deal with the particular problem I see coming.

Let me describe the problem so you understand what I'm talking about.

Once this project reaches the point that specific story ideas are being discussed you're going to hear calls for many characters to return, among them the following:

Ethan Rayne, Dru, Tara, Oz, the potentials, and most likely many more, possibly even Connor.

I know this will happen because I've watched this project being discussed since it began.

It's all part of a larger problem. Buffy-boards has many members, and they each have an opinion. You can't please everyone. At some point someone somehow has to focus the character list and storylines into some kind of cohesion. The word chaos jumps into my head again.

So here's the thing. If you can't organize the thing with polls, what's the alternative. The production staff will have to make the final decision. That's probably the correct way to go, but get ready for toes to get stepped on.

Perhaps there's a way to combine staff decisions with polls. Probably not. Probably someone has to just get ready to be the bad guy.

In the mean time though polls might be a way to give the contributors a feeling of being involved. Also polls are fun, and they attract attention.

I like polls! I think it would also draw the attention of people who don't want to write alot but do want an input.

The characters we difinately need are Buffy, Willow, Xander & Giles. I also think it would be good to have Kennedy, Dawn and Andrew.

We need Kennedy to help Willow, plus it would be good to have another slayer.

I don't think we should have Faith in the whole season, as 3 slayers would just be too much. Her and Robin could be going round the world collecting new slayers and training them.

Faith and Robin could then meet up with the gang sort of mid-season and tell them about the big bad that they found on their travels. This could be what takes them to America if we want them back over there.

I don't think we should resurrect characters (Sorry Anya fans!) because we already have alot to work with. I do think we should bring characters in like Oz, Dru & Ethan like nerd4hire said but only have them in for 1 episode, maybe 2 or 3 for Dru & Oz.
