Canon Shmanon. If you believe that Joss is the 100% genuis behind Buffy / Angel aren't you denying that there were a whole team of writers and producers that were the people who were the folks in the trenches week after week giving the show it's flavor, dialogue etc. etc? Joss was responsible for coming up with an idea that made a really bad, bad, bad movie and then with the help of some really smart people he turned it into a hit series. Didn't do it alone, wasn't his idea to move to the small screen either. Just cause it's all Joss and he claims it's canon only makes it so if you agree.
My point is that there should be another option or two on this poll such as - Do you really care? and Does it matter? Cause I for one don't and think that it doesn't. I'll read the comics, enjoy them, consider it part of the story and if a movie comes along that contradicts the comics I'd jettison them from my mind faster than Homer Simpson can make a dozen donuts disapear.

Well yes and no. Contrary to popular belief, Joss maintains that he mapped out EVERY season of Buffy and Angel. He kept almost 100% of the power regarding what direction each character will go in. David Fury (Angel's head writer in the end) said that even when Joss had his least involvement, he was still usually coming in once a week and telling the writers where the story was going. Joss & Marti Noxon have made similar statements.

FURY: Here's the thing about it. Ultimately, a lot of the direction of the series went by Joss' whim , as it should, it's his show. (...) [Joss] would still come in and he would say, "I want to do this, I want to do that, I want this to happen." (...) once Joss came into the mix Joss put his own mark on it and (...) it blew a lot of our stuff out of the water.[/quote]
So while the others contributed great episodes and great dialog, the overall direction of the show has always been 99% Joss. According to everyone, that pretty much how After the Fall and Season Eight are going right now with Joss "story-boarding" the overall arc and individual writers taking on every mini-arc/episode.
The problem with the supposedly canonical Aftermath followup to After the Fall is that it'll be the first piece of Buffyverse canon that has allegedly zero involvement from Joss & co (with IDW & a third-party writer taking the reigns).

Planning all the arcs may or may not be the best way to defend canon. Or did you forget Angel Season 4? Most hate it! Maybe giving the reigns to someone else will be good.
