Just a thought but it seems like there are lots of clues hinting at Xander as being the prince, he would be the one Angel would probably want dead, just as much as Buffy and Willow. He has always been loyal to Buffy and Willow, and he has influenced their lives on more dramatic scale than he is really given credit for. He is the most important person in both their lives right now, I don't think Angel really means more to Buffy than Xander. Xander has always been Angel's real competition for Buffy, even more so now. I don't Buffy is really over Xander even if she suppostly kissing Angel on a cover. I think deep down she knows she still loves Xander. He is really the only man that could really be her true love. Angel has always caused Buffy pain, and is clearly corrupt and doesn't care about the innocents that are suppostly getting killed for the greater good. I think much like the end of season 6 that Xander will have a major part in stopping Angel, he will free Buffy from Angel's manipulations and lies. I think Willow will also figure out his real true motives I don't she trusts him anymore than Xander. She would always choose Xander over Angel, he is everything to her, more so than Kennedey. If you think about what happened with Tara, this is a parllel that she faces now with Buffy, it outright pointed out. I don't she really regrets Buffy coming back at all, but she still probably feels guilty, and Buffy is caught in the middle. She cares to much for Buffy to really resent her. I also doubt she is the betrayer everything points to Angel.

I wouldn't put a tremendous amount of faith on any actual romantic feelings between Buffy and Xander. He's been too much like a brother to her for too long for that. Xander's biggest attraction at the moment is that he's the only man actually available, with the exception of Giles and Andrew, the former her surrogate father and the latter at best a goofy sister. Besides, Xander's "Thanks a lot, but no thanks," combined with his new relationship with Dawn has pretty much taken him out of the "Available" category. Other than that, you might have something about his being instrumental in bringing about Angel's defeat, simply because he's never trusted either him or Spike since they were first revealed to be vampires.

lol at the Andrew goofy sister
I'm going to agree with white avenger - here.

Xander's pretty much made it clear - that he's only interested in Buffy as a Good friend or sister-like figure.

But for Buffy - it's also pretty clear (especially by the end of issue 33) that Angel will always be a big part of her. The fact that she & Angel have at one point attempted to kill each other - hasn't stopped their feeling for each other.

b/x relationship

I wasn't also necessarily saying that b/x was meant to be a romantic but a rival for Angel simply since Xander is one of the purest characters of the series. He goes to extremes to protect the women he loves, Buffy, Cordelia, Willow, and he doesn't resort to any kind of evil to do it. He is simply Angel's rival since his in fact his opposite, and to say he isn't competition is missing a few parts of his and Angel's history. In the show Angel always hated Xander it was a hate relationship from the begining, and the show also show how clearly Angel could be jealous of Xander, simply because of him being human, he even acts jealous of Xander around Buffy and if Buffy does in fact Betray the scobbies for a while it would be him and Willow in charge, hence the competition. If Angel and Buffy were meant to be then why does Angel keep making excuses for Buffy to kill him, if he really wanted to be with Buffy, he would walk his talk like Xander does? Also Buffy is based off female empowerment, what is so empowering about a girl empowered by a souled vampire, she has always been stronger than him? To say she is to say she is on the same level as he is, but she simply is not she has not sold out to evil period. She does not enjoy the death of her soliders, and she doesn't seem as emotional numb as they make her to appear. I could be wrong but to say that just because Xander isn't single, in no way makes less of Angel's competiton, he could be very well competeting with Angel for something more important than a romantic relationship, her soul.

last and final continuity on b/x relationship

Although, to note I did mention true love but the person who as always hated Angel the most is Xander and he has been there for Buffy, he is one of the most strong willed characters of the group. He is by his character the person who will always have a greater connection to Buffy than Angel. Even Spike admits Xander is in the way in season 6, why wouldn't he try to keep Buffy from getting back together with Angel he hates the guy, it would be out of his character for him not to try and keep Buffy from Angel, whether or not he was romantically interested in her. To say Angel was her destiny period would say that we cannot control our own destines, but thats simply not true. We choose who we love, as well as choosing our own fates.
