(I can't find any thread about this anywhere, so...)

Has it occurred to anyone else that the ultimate, worst possible season Big Bad for Season 9 would be a resurrected, soulless, evil Giles? That seems to be a definite possibility, the way that Angel is pursuing his plan of "first we resurrect the body, then we'll worry about the soul."

I haven't considered it, but considering the cover for a future issue;
A younger Giles seems to on one of the covers, so maybe Ripper will pay a visit. One who doesn't remember Angel & Faith. Or the meaning of responibility.

While a part of me is veeeery tired of people coming back from the dead, I think this could be a interesting storyline.

I doubt he would be the Big Bad for the Buffy series though. Maybe a smaller bad, if there's a crossover.

I thought about that possibility.

I don't think Joss could go there. It's hard to explain - I just feel it would be wrong. BtVS is about metaphors and what kind of a metaphor it could be? Besides, they can't kill him without destroying this timeline, so they'd have to send him back in time with wiped memories. Quite a feat in the magicless world.

OTOH, having a Big Bad you can't kill - that could be very interesting.

Still, I don't think it will happen. But I can easily imagine Ripper being Buffy's snarky opponent, maybe an enemy for a couple of arcs. That could be awesome.

I agree wholeheartedly... I am tired of the whole resurrection thing, but I am interested to see Giles as a bad guy. We have gotten glimpses of it through the years and it is always very cool to watch.

I think if Joss was going to use Evil Giles as a villain, he'd do it in Buffy's book where it would have more resonance. It would have much less impact in Angel & Faith's book.

I think we'll only see Giles in flashbacks, though some of them may be from times when he wasn't very nice.

Well, I was all excited for Severin being the Big Bad, but after #4, it appears that
Simone is pulling the strings
, and I'm not really interested in that at all. Don't get me wrong,
I liked her story in season 8 and how it related to Andrew & his place in "the gang". But we've done the Bad Slayer thing before, and I'm not really that interested in it
. I'm still interested in Severin, and I'm glad he didn't die, so I bet we'll see more of him, but I'm not sure he's going to be the season Big Bad.

Giles as a Big Bad. I'd never thought I'd see the day! But then I'd never thought they'll kill him either. By Angel-Jenny-style.

I hope this new character whats-his-name won't be the Big Bad, because its kind of predictable and I don't like him so much-so far anyway.

I really doubt that Severin is going to be the Big Bad, they've revealed him as a bad guy way too soon for that. But I could be wrong- this season's not going to be as long as the previous one.
