Season 9 Shouldn't be called Season 9?

Scott Allie was doing a interview and was asked to confirm if Buffy Season 9 was happening and he said their would be a project after season 8, and it would involve Joss in the same role as he is now, but he mentions that he wouldn't call it season 9?

He also mentions the Serenity comic set after the movie and the Book comic looking into Books past.

(Also anyone else think he kinda looks a little like James Marsters?)
 
Yeah sorry forgot to say, this is only the first part of the video, don't think the second part is out yet?
 
Hmmm... perhaps it will only be an arc long? Like Season 8 was/is 40 issues... perhaps "Season 9" will be more of an epilogue-y thing.
 
I certainly hope not, Buffy is doing quite well for Dark Horse. I think we're safe for another 40-issues. I hope, at least.

Although as much as I want Buffy to go on forever it will help if they have more focus on the series and not have to shove a load of filler to reach 40 issues. (Most of season 8)

eh, I wouldn't go that far. I didn't like all the tangents (and neither did Joss), but I wouldn't call any of it "filler." In fact, the crew culled their ideas down to fit into the 40-issue mark, I believe the original plan was around 56 issues.

To be fair though, I think we do get a good bit of story in each issue. I know it took me almost twice as long to read through the last S8 issue compared to the last Only Human issue...

I know it was a little bit of an overstatement but season 8 would be far better off being shorter and more focused.
Like the show it could still have one-shots that also advance the storyline however I would prefer if it didn't branch out to the extent of having an entire arc about Harmony making a TV show.
Although it does advance the storyline there are much better ways of humans finding out about vampires/slayers and siding with vampires...

I believe that Season 8 was originally supposed to be around 20 issues.

I think Season 8 would have benefitted from being shorter with a tighter narrative. There's no denying that a lot of it has been filler (enjoyable filler but filler none-the-less).

A 3 YEAR wait for Twilight's reveal?! That was ridiculous! =P

To be fair, the reveal was arguably a year ago as between Joss' & Georges' hints, Twilight could only have been Angel.
  • The reveal would devastate Buffy
  • Twilight has never been in the same panel as himself behind the mask.
  • 6ft. Tall
  • Twilight's identity would be revealed by the back quarter of the season.
  • Angel would appear in the back quarter of the season while Buffy's devastated.

I think I read somewhere that Season 9 (or whatever they plan to call it) is going to be about 20 issues.
