I know that this is jumping way ahead of where Buffy and the gang are right now, what with Season 8 not even being finished yet, but do you think that Joss will actually end the Buffy story at the end of Season 9, begin a Season 10 within a relatively short (12 months or less) period of time, or leave the story line open enough that he can start it up several years after Season 9 ends, even if only with an entirely new cast and background?

Personally, while I HOPE that there will be a Season 10 within a relatively short period of time after the ens of Season 9 , my gut tells me that Joss will want to back away from the Buffyverse at least for several years before starting up a Season 10, or any sort of Vampire Slayer spinoff.

God I hope not. Then again I keep hearing rumors that after season 9 Joss will be taking a break to do an "unkown" movie....people are speculating it's going to be a Buffy movie, which i don't know how I feel about. I do not want this to end though!!!! I want season 10!

I wouldn't hold my breath too long for a Buffy(verse) movie anytime in the foreseeable future, unless it were something like a Faith/Spike/Ripper/etc movie. Sarah and David would almost certainly find a way to be unavailable, or simply decline outright.

Which is so sad really.

Then again...how much Buffy, is too much Buffy. That's why i'm on the fence with the movie. At least the comics wouldn't bee to overwhelming. I think I'd rather have more comics than get a movie.

Honestly, I hope season 9 is the last season. While Buffy is and always will be my favorite show, I think the story does need to end somewhere. I know characters and situations progress over time, but season 8 has been full of so many "really? reeeeeaaaally?" moments that I think it's time to let it go. If season 9 ends with the shot from Fray (of the portal closing with Buffys hand sticking out or whatever) I'd be fine with that. While I wouldn't be thrilled that everyone is dead, at least it would legit tie up any lose ends. Plus, the season is taking too long now - over 2 years? I'm going to be an old man (late 20s lol) by the time it finishes! lol

Agree with you on this Hero. Buffy seems to me like it has to have a real End. Her quest is one that is supposed to have an ending date. At some point Buffy wants to stop being The Vampire Slayer and just be Buffy. Isn't that the point to some degree? We have to let her ride off into the sunset someday.

Other folks like Angel and Spike, their quests are a lot more open ended than her. I could see their 'seasons' or books or whatever lasting well past the time when Buffy is just being Buffy.

I don't think Joss has any plans to bring the Buffyverse to an ultimate end anytime soon. Whether there is a season 10 will probably depend on a lot of things... how well season 9 does commercially, how happy Joss is with it creatively, how much free time he has, how much enthusiasm he feels for it, and whether he has any really good ideas for it.

I doubt it will be the definate end but most likely a big resting point. But if it were the end then I would hope that they would start up Fray S2, or a spin-off with Faith or just go back to noncannon stories and make it a sort of a alternate Buffyverse.
