Season 9 Wish List

With the news that both Angel and Buffy now belong to Dark Horse comes the assurance that there will be fewer months in Season 9 (20, I think) but more titles, resulting in actually as many or more total issues than in Season 8. The question is, just what will those titles be? "Buffy" and "Angel" are pretty much a given, but who else do you want to see in their own books?

For me, it goes without saying that "Spike" would top the list, co-starring either Illyria or Faith. Both would be better.

"Willow," with Kennedy, Xander, and Dawn as part of her team would, I think, work pretty well.

"Connor," maybe with Gunn and some unnamed Slayer for extra muscle (Wes, if there's a way to pull it off, to add brains to Connor's brawn)

"Giles," with some new Slayer (maybe Satsu) and, of course, Andrew.

That would give us an even half dozen titles to run for the season. Spaced out properly, that would give us at least one title per week, often two.

It's going to depend on who's still alive and non-evil. Xander, Dawn and Giles are the ones who haven't been mentioned in season 9 context by any Dark Horse people, so I think they're the ones who might not be joining us next season.

I'd like to see more Satsu. And more Batsu, but I'd also like to have a billion dollars and a villa in Tuscany. Which is about as likely as more Batsu.

I'm still finding it hard to envision how they're going to maintain any kind of dramatic tension with the story split up among many different titles, and the core characters off doing their own things. It could wind up being an entire season of "Predators & Prey."

Also wondering how Joss, with all he's going to have on his plate, will be able to coordinate 3-4 new issues every month.

I'm hoping for some titles to focus on Gunn/Illyria. Also, they need to bring back into play both Wes and Cordy(yes I'm a big dreamer). 🙂 I'm guessing Spike will be in Buffy ones... so that's it for him. Angel with his son would be great too.

Hm I dunno, what makes you so sure that Spike will be in the Buffy book? I think that they might be more likely to put Angel back into Buffy for Season 9, Dont know why just have a feeling thats the way its headed.

Other then the obvious 'Buffy' and 'Angel' foundation books I see Spike having his own series and probably Willow as well.

Beyond the 4 core books I expect Illyria, Connor, Faith and Giles to have their own series as well, probably of the mini variety.

If someone could figure out a way to bring back Wes he'd definitely be a critical component to an Illyria, Connor or Angel book, all three of those characters are going to need a Robin to their Batman and after Gunn we're gonna need some more people to man the battle stations for Team Angel.

Well, what about all those new characters in IDW's Angel comics? DH doesn't get them right? Only the characters that appeared originally on the show?

I really am content with just having Buffy and Angel titles. Any other character that I really like I wouldn't necessarily like to see them away from Buffy or Angel. Although, I think a Xander title would be nice. Won't happen of course, but I'd day I'd enjoy it. Also, if there was a faith title anything like "No Future for You", then I'm there.

I would love to see what DH does with Spike. I think that IDW actually did a good job with him, better than any other character except maybe Illyria.

Mostly, I want these two teams to mesh. Let's see Willow working with Illyria or Buffy meeting Connor.

I hear people say they want Buffy and Spike to move on from each other, but I want them back together so badly! Even for a little while. It kinda sucked in season 8.

I've said this elsewhere and I'll say it again: I want to see Faith in a relationship, not just a fling. I really want to see her struggling to open up with someone. I really, really like her interaction with Giles, but I don't want to see it with him. The age difference, ugh. In general I have loved Faith in the comics, and want more.

Oz is NOT Willow's true love. 😛

No such thing as "true love"; only real love. Which she shared with both Oz and Tara. But this isn't Battleship so I'll leave it there. As long as Willow breaks up with Kennedy in the first few issues of season 9 I'll be happy.

My Hope: A Buffy book, an Angel book, a Spike book, a Faith/Giles book, an Andrew (with a team of slayers) book, and a Wesley book. Yes, I want Wesley back as a ghost putting a team together to do the things that he physically can't. Maybe haunting Gunn? Maybe he'll work on helping Illirya become more Fred-like? Who knows - but I think a book focused on ghost Wesley helping the helpless...as a ghost could be intruiging.

My Wishlist for S9:

1. Bring back Cordelia

2. Go back to the basics: they need to be settled somewhere fighting the bigbads that make sense in the Buffyverse.

3. Tone down the comic aspect: I know that they can do litterly anything they want now that it is a comic but they cant forget that this came from a tv show, and it would be nice to be able to go "I could see this happening in the show". They dont need to go overboard with stuff, keep it down to buffyearth.

A much simpler story, I've had a lot of trouble keeping up with the one in season 8, English is not my native language and the plot was a little too hard to understand.

No more Dander, if one of them has to die in order for that to happened - so be it.
