Season 9

First - I can't really inagine a "Buffy" without Buffy.

Second - Emma Caulfield cannot leave!! She must stay.

Third - I think the show should continue, but like everyone else has said, it all depends on the writing! As long as it is good and viable then they can just keep on going, I'll keep on tuning in.

You read my mind...lol...if its good ill keep watching but if it starts to get boring or just bad ill probably stop watching...
 
I would love a season nine.

I just heard on the radio today that if SMG leaves than Michelle T would take her place as the next slayer. Don't know if it's true though.
 
A lot of people think she would just be a Buffy-clone if that happened. I don't think she would be a Buffy-clone if she was a Slayer anymore then Faith was.
 
I read that UPN was thinking of replacing SMG with another actress, a younger actress if they continued. I am assuming and hoping this is false though. Joss knows better than to re-cast a part to someone who most likely won't be able to handle it and of course WILL be hated because she isn't SMG. I am not hoping, but I would kind of be satisfied if this was the last season. I guess a season 8 wouldn't be too bad, they just need good writing and the support it would have without Emma and SMG. The should would still probably be called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" if Sarah left. It would still have the same embodiment and you just can't change the name of a TV show, it would be too confusing.
 
Which is why they should either give the Slayer mantle to Dawn or try and get Eliza to take the lead role as Faith.
 
I never thought of Eliza taking over but actually it makes sense. And I think that more people would tend to stick with the show with Eliza then with Michelle T. Hopefully SMG will decide to stay and then I won't have to worry. I just don't want it to end. 🙁
 
None of us do, but SMG was paid around $5,000,000 for Scooby-doo, which is considerably more then she was paid for then entire 6th season of Buffy, and she will likely get close to $10,000,000 for the sequel, so you can understand if she decides to start only doing movies. My idea for Dawn would be more in line with her being the Key. Send her and the Scoobs on adventures in other dimensions, like Angel did in Pylea, it would be a logical power for Dawn to be able to channel the Key's energy in order to open and close dimensional portals.

Well I tend to disagree, to be quite honest a new actor to replace SMG doesn't seem all that bad an idea to me. Don't get me wrong, I think she's done an exemplary job; she bent, moulded, fashioned and twisted Buffy's persona at every angle imaginable. From such a menial projection as the film to such a skilfully, adaptable and well presented show, she truly has captured a vast emotion of qualities... it's just, well I'm tired of it, lol. Not so much her performance, but the act she has to put forth. I maybe with a small minority here, but in my view I think her role is slipping, losing its balance (if only at set pieces) and a vital integrity I used to love watching about her character. I mean there was just no edge to her character in s6, IMO. Limits have been met and I just think it's come to a point where I'm not so sure I'd really care if she left.

- Then again this may just be myself trying to justify her leaving, truth be told I'm just as jaded as everyone else about such topics as of late. I'll probably eat my words when s7 shines through my deluded eyes and becomes the best season yet. 🙂

Well ok, I'd like to see her stay for the overall continuity of the show, but if she wants to leave, then let her. Joss plays the cards and if he thinks there's still a few more seasons without her then why not. As for Eliza or Michelle taking the protagonist role, well I'm not really much in the way of backing that either. The writers have shaped both characters into they're own distinct personalities and it would be, well stupid to try and mesh them to fit Buffy's attributes. On the contrary, it would also be a little hapless to use their personalities against Buffy's, to create some sort of "Rebel slayer" or, well... "Candy slayer" as a replacement.

I just think, to fit Buffy's shoes, you'd need to keep Buffy's character the same, (textbook to past seasons), but successfully subsidise the fact that SMG's gone, not wish for an existing replacement.
 
Well, 'Rebel Slayer' as far as Faith goes may be accurate, but I think your going to see a radical change in Dawn's image next season. One reason people look the way they do at her is because she dresses like and acts like a kid. But for season 7 that is ALL supposed to change, Dawn is supposed to be 16, Michelle is 17, and for her to be dressing like a 12 year-old just doesn't fit her at all. They hide her way too much, and they need to stop that if they ever fancy Michelle/Dawn taking the protagonist role on the show. If they do that, then the whole 'Candy Slayer' bit won't be mentioned again ever.
 
Pre-tense agreed, it'll most definitely be an uphill struggle to get fans out of the "candy-pop" image she has (and within perfect reason) successfully created. I do have my doubts, but I'm sure they'll be able to achieve it post s7.
 
Well part of it is she grew up with a vengeance through season 6. At the beginning of the season SMG was taller then Michelle was...9 months later Michelle's 4 inches taller, so I suppose everyone was just a little caught off-guard if you know what I mean.
 
wow faith coming back that would be intresting would she be a goody , will Buffy & co be able to trust her? god this would be really intresting ,i posted a thing up saying master returns im now thinking i should have posted it up here instead oh well maybe ill copy n paste it incase anyone is just checking season 9 posts for there spoilers
