Season One Best Eppy...

Nightmares, Prophecy Girl, and The Witch. I also enjoy Never Kill A Boy On The First Date...but nobody else does. That's OK, I'll admit I love that ep!!!:flower:
 
I would def say Angel was the best episode out of Season One. It set the stage for the love affair that would span throughout the entre series, even though you knew it could never last... *sigh* Dramatic irony...
 
My choice was Angel. We find out everything about this tall, dark, and handsome man as well as Buffy and she accepts him for who he is after he proved he wasn't evil. Plus, I never liked Darla, so seeing him stake his sire for Buffy gives me a happy. 😀 Shame he couldn't in Season 2 of Angel...
 
For me, the best would be either "Witch" or "The puppet show"
Both had some cute twists in them that made you rethink your thinking.

(I'm not a fan of the "Angel" episode since the show is about Buffy and not Angel. I know they get into a relationship, but this happens in every show. It starts out one way and the writers send it off on another route by adding some lame and unnecessary things like romance and whatever else have you. The X-files was like that...)

I'd have to say that it was probably the intention of the writers right from the start to involve romance, etc. in the show. It seemed apparent right from the first episode that Angel and Buffy were going to have some kind of romance....so I'd have to disagree with your assertion that the show started out "one way" and then got "sent off on another route". The show wasn't just about Buffy....it was about all of the characters. Buffy was the main character....but I don't think it's fair to say that the entire show was supposed to be based only around her character. That said....I think the episode about Angel was justified and gave us insight into a character that played a very important role in the show for the first three seasons. I don't think the writers could have done anything else other than expand on Angel's character if they wanted him to play a prominent role in the show (as he did).

I think the writers have always tried to make the show so that people could relate to it....they had the characters experience real things like school troubles, romances, fights with parents, etc. I think without all of these things the show wouldn't have been the same.
 
I have two favourties-
Witch, because it's the frist ep that introduces us to other 'supernatural' things than vampires, and shows how their world can expand and the potential storylines, and also that they won't only focus on vampires because theres a potential whole world of nasties. Plus the ep is really funny aswel- "You're my Xander shaped friend" - Buffy.

And also Prophecy Girl, because i agree with Cordelia Chase*, that was gut wrenching!

I completely agree with this, we needed to get to know Angel and what had happened in his past and also what he was like to enable us to like him and his relationship with Buffy. I personally think that if we hadn't got to know Angel so well in Season 1 and like him as Buffy's partner then I don't think that Joss would have achieved the desired effect in Season 2 when Angel became Angelus.

I also agree with this, (Kimm we are always on the same wavelength), the reason I love BTVS is not because of Buffy but it is due to the show as a whole! I love finding out about each character in Buffy's lifes, I felt as if I knew all the characters really well. Did you not cry or get upset when Joyce and Tara died? I did because I'd grown to love those characters. If the show was based entirely around Buffy, there would have been no emotions for those other characters once they were killed off!
 
S1 is my favourite season of the show, although I do love all seven seasons and don't have any particular preference for the "high school" years in general. After S1, I guess I would look to S6 or S7 as my other "favourites".

Anyway, I love all twelve S1 episodes, but Never Kill A Boy On The First Date is (and always has been) my all-time favourite BtVS episode. It's brilliantly written and Gellar's central performance is wonderful.

"Angel" if I had to choose. I love season one & never kill a boy on the first date & prophecy girl are also favorites. But my top fav would be "Angel" because it's such a good episode. We learn about Angel's curse & the ending scene is awesome with the Sophie Zelmani music & all. That episode is what really made me fall in love with Buffy & I knew it was really special after that ep.
 
I was first inclined to go with Angel (I really do love that episode), but I ended up going with Welcome to the Hellmouth. It was the episode that started it all... we were introduced to the setting, the characters we grew to love, and it was just... cool. Lol, I have a soft spot for that one, what can I say? 😉

There is just something about evil Xander that did it for me.

I also love seeing how far they have come with the fighting action. It's so obvious that it's not Sarah when she tosses the zoo keeper into the hyena pit. I just love how much the show grew over time.
 
Quite a few actually. You try to decide and then you keep adding more and more episodes to the list. Right now, its probably The Harvest, Angel, I Robot... You Jane, Nightmares, Out of Mind, Out of Sight and Prophecy Girl.

i voted prophecy girl but the others was good too especially welcome to the hell mouth,angel,the pack and the puppet show!
 
I went with Welcome to the Hellmouth as it's where it all started, and set the groundwork for those 7 years to follow.

Aside from that, it would of been either Angel or Prophecy Girl. 😀

Definitely not Teachers Pet - one of my least favourites. 😉
 
i really liked witch, cool how amys mams stuck in the statue ( still refered to in later series by oz) also cant beet the first ever episodes dude.

I agree! That movie was hilarious...ahahahaha...the way that vampire dies at the end, when he's kicking the wall!
Anyway, I voted 'Out of Mind, Out of Sight', because I used to feel like Marcie Ross did when I was at school, and I often thought about exacting revenge on all the popular bitchy girls...I never did though, so this episode gave me satisfaction.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have gone as far as she did!
