Okay so I finished the sixth season a while ago, but life kinda kept me busy, lol.

Overall this is one of my favorite seasons. I really enjoyed each episode and appreciated the darker tone. OMWF is incredible and even my husband will put that one on randomly lol. He also watched Hell's Bells with me and he as very very strong opinions on that one.

I enjoyed the blend of mundane issues because I could relate. Jobs that suck. Financial stress. Family stress.

I think this season does a really good job of exploring depression and how it can impact a person. You can look fine on the outside and be totally not fine inside. I've been there a few times myself. It's not easy to get through and I like there's no hand wave away of everyone's traumas.

Willow backslides. Buffy has unhealthy coping mechanisms. Dawn steals and skips school It's messy and I really kinda liked that. I really am impressed with the character growth and how humor gets woven into the darker themes.

The final three episodes of the season were really, really well done. I'm really impressed with Alyson Hannigan's acting as Dark Willow, you could really feel the grief and rage coming through.

And Anthony Head's return as Giles with "I'd like to test that theory" was just perfect. He understood the assignment. The season finale made me bawl. I cried like a baby lol. I am not a Xander fan by any means, but that scene with him talking Willow down was just super emotional.

And of course Spike getting his soul back. Incredibly well done and acted.

Overall I would say the show has been consistently good throughout and very strong and I'm very much enjoying season seven so far as well.

It's my favorite season too! I agree with all you've said here

Dark Willow had some amazing moments. I think AH handled it pretty well. The times it fails is some of the cheesy dialogue she's given, that even the best actor in the world couldn't pull off, ("Get off, super b**ch!" for example).

S6 got off to a great start and then kinda fell apart. Was harrowing seeing Buffy at her lowest, and being abused/raped by Spike. The Giles exit was handled poorly by the writers (but his return is a good one!).

S6 could've laid the foundation for s7/The First but again, missed opportunity.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!

I like season 6 a great deal despite how dark and depressing it got, and enjoyed reading your comments. I agree with a lot of it.
