Season's 8 change of focus?

Someone mentioned in the #40 thread that Joss admitted to "taking s8 in a different direction" somewhere around issue 28. Does this mean that Joss hadn't initially intended for Twilight to be Angel? Or does he mean something else by this? I really have no idea what this means, I just know that it wasn't until 33 where Twilight is revealed to be Angel.

I don't think that was the case. All they way up to Twilight's reveal there are some hints. Not the kind that you can just snap your fingers and say "Got, it Twilight's Angel!" but the tiny little clue you'll pick when you're re-reading an earlier issue. I think, by change of focus he meant that he hadn't intended for S8 to become so over the top, but having no budget can go too a man's head 😉

That makes sense, because I agree with your first point: there is foreshadowing going pretty far back.
