Sorry - this is just about convincing people that Buffy and/or Angel are worth watching.

Which episodes would you show them and why?

Let's say you have three episodes per series.

For Buffy my episodes are:

Prophecy Girl - gives an excellent idea of who the characters are, and what the show is about. And SMG knocks it out of the ballpark.

Passion - just because I think it's one of the best hours of tv ever - Giles finding Jenny.....I still puddle up

Fool For Love - it's a pivotal episode taking some real creative risks without too many spoilers - and I love the flashbacks.

For Angel my episodes are:

Somnambulist - it also gives an excellent idea of who the characters are, and what the show is about. There's plenty of tension...and I freakin love it...all right...just...sorry

Orpheus - another best hour of tv ever - also "Dude, you just rescued a puppy!"

Destiny - I hate the bloody eyes thing, and a few other contrivances, but I would put up with more in order to see Angel and Spike finally fight. Love the Mountain Dew ending - in three short looks the two have an entire conversation.

No more than three - go to it!

Hmn...For Buffy:

Prophecy Girl: Pretty much one of the best episodes of the series. Has some great moments and defines Buffy as a character.

School Hard: Nicely contrasts Buffy's 'normal' school life and Mom/friends with the dangers/hazards of being a slayer.

Hush: It's stunning, genuinely creepy, incredibly witty and effective. Shows that the Buffy idea works AFTER highschool.

For Angel:

City Of...: Really, this sets out the entire series so well. It shows that Angel can carry his own show effectivly and introduces Cordelia and Doyle. And it's actually really funny- especially a lot of the Angel lines.

Five-By-Five: It's just a great 45 minutes of television. David and Eliza are both fantastic. Lots of great lines and some seriously cool violence. It also shows in flashback the aftermath of Angel dealing with his soul/struggle with his 'monstrousness'.

Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been: Great flashback episode (usually they can be a bit hit and miss) and shows more about Angel's struggle with redemption. It's really dark too.

I choked a bit when I read the title...my mind is always in the gutter.

But as for the question, I'm going to be really boring and say...the first 3 eps of each seasons. Honestly they are strong enough to convince anyone to watch, and it's probably best to watch in order and not spoil the people.

On a side note, if you want to get a lesbian watching, just show her New Moon Rising. I guaranty she will keep watching, that's just how lesbians work.

I have to sort of agree. Showing people random episodes is just going to majorly spoil them and some people just aren't okay with that and don't bother going back to watch the rest of the show.

When people ask this question, I always have two suggestions:

1) The first three episodes of S1'. If you're not at least intrigued by the first three eps of any show, then you're not going to watch the rest. The first three eps are the ones that draw you in and you decide if you want to go alone for the ride. The first three eps of S1 do that perfectly I think, and while I wasn't completely addicted to this show until the middle of S2, those three eps still had enough that made me want to come back for more.

2) 'Anne'. 'Anne' is the ultimate season premier, and the show never, ever beat it. There's not really too much in the way of spoilers, other than why Buffy is living in LA on her own, but at the same time, there's enough story to draw people in. It's a stand alone that really works with the overall arc of the whole show.

1) The first three episodes of S1

I'd skip three and four.. go with the the first two and then skip to Never Kill a Boy. Then The Pack and Angel are next.. thats a strong line up. Witch and Teacher's Pet can be .. problematic.

I would skip season one if I could. It just gives the wrong idea of what I really like about it. Season two is when the show comes together as far as I'm concerned. That's for Buffy - I edo like season one for Angel but I'm not a real Doyle fan.

The first 2 or 3 episodes of S1 and School Hard. Who wouldn't want to see Spike's famous entrance?😛

the last arc of angel. From the episode of cordelia waking up and dying to not fade away. i would recommend the entire season 5 of angel since it's the best of the 2 shows

Its difficult saying that people should miss parts of season one. It is one of the weakest seasons, but if you have not seen the show before then you should watch it all the way through at least first time around. Its on rewatches that I tend to skip certain episodes, unless I have committed myself to watching the whole thing again.

I agree with watching the first few episodes of Buffy. You get an immediate feel of what the programme is and whether or not you'll like it or not. By the first few episodes I was hooked, I prefer to watch things in order anyway it just makes more sense to me. I havn't seen many of the Angel episodes but yes I do have a few Buffy favs to try to get people to watch it. I love passion, I only have eyes for you, school hard, and a few more from later seasons. I wouldn't recommend for anyone to watch a few random ones from later seasons though either. Storylines get spoiled and there isn't as much build up. I'd definitely suggest to someone who hasn't seen it to start with good lol' season one.

I went with The Body, and that worked well. My daughter thinks Dawn is a step sister who joins the show later, so no spoiler there. She told me she wanted to watch the show to find out who these characters are.
