God I HATE Warren and his Dopey minions!!!
 
I just watched this one with a Buffy newbie and I knew what was going to happen and he totally didn't. So I was getting all depressed in advance and he's all Yay! Willow/Tara. Which just made it more depressing.

I was stunned, especially since Benson was added to the opening credits.
 
I was so, so angry when they put Tara in the opening credits and then killed her in that episode.
I cried a lot and screamed at my TV that they were all a bunch of c**ts lol.
Also, it made me scared everytime they added someone to the opening credits like Lorne in season 4. I totally spent the entire episode thinking they were going to kill him.

I didn't like Tara dying. I feel like her character could have developed in so much more. I would have liked to see another side of her and not just her soft side like we know it. It would have been interesting.
One of the most beautiful Tara moments I think is when Buffy breaks in front of Tara and tells her about her and Spike. I think it's a really powerful moment somehow. It does show that Tara has a way of getting people to trust her and her loyality 🙂

That part makes me cry, it was so beautiful.
Well, I don't want to spoil you, but there is some satisfaction coming in the next episodes.

You other guys know what I'm talking about.

That was a great scene, I liked the Buffy/Tara friendship.

Buffy needed an impartial person to confide in, who wouldn't judge her. She laid it bare and allowed total vulnerability in front of Tara. Liked how Buffy broke down and sobbed, while Tara comforted her.
 
I hate this episode so much. Between the attempted rape on Buffy, and Buffy getting shot, and Tara getting killed, it's just terrible. I wanted Tara to live forever and be with Willow forever. 🙁

I didn't know what was coming the first the time, and after it was over, I thought "Why bother putting Amber Benson in the opening credits if you are just going to kill her off?" Still doesn't really make sense to me.

Anyway, I was bawling when Tara was shot :cry: :cry:. I wanted to killing Warren myself. What a freaking moron, running away still shooting the gun. I don't hold it against Whedon for not liking happy endings. To be honest, happy endings get on my nerves sometimes. Life doesn't always have a happy ending, and being that the Scoobies are on a hell mouth, why would they have a happy ending? But Willow and Tara SHOULD have had a happy ending. There just SO cute together.

He'd been wanting to pull this stunt for a long time. He'd wanted to include Jessie (Xander's friend from the pilot) in the original opening credits so viewers would be surprised when he got killed off in the first episode. They didn't really have the budget to do multiple opening sequences that first year, so that idea never got off the ground. He resurrected the idea when he decided to kill Tara off though.
 
You could be right. It's been awhile since I've read about this. I thought budget had something to do with it, seeing as they were so obviously low on funds that season.

That does make sense. I bet it was both reasons.
The killing Tara off was my worst moment in Buffy. Its the only thing i wish they didn't do. I'd love to have seen her in s7 a million times more than Kennedy. I kinda think Joss took it to far, trying to make a point of 'no ones safe'. Surely every fan would rather she lived?
 
I have to disagree actually. It may not be the most pleasant moment when she's killed, but in my opinion, if Buffy always went the safe route, there'd be nothing really to seperate it from plenty of the other shows on TV. I do think Whedon could have left some couple happy once in a great while, but Tara's death was actually used effectively to push things forward, so I wouldn't want that changed.

I get that. I just wish Joss found some other way to make things work. There must have been something they could do! Still, its buffy and its all good :)

Haha, same exact thing tonight with a friend. She had never seen it and was all listening intently to Xander/Buffy's conversation and she literally put her hand over her mouth when she saw the gun. Makes me haaaaaate Warren though. And Joss a little. Can't at least ONE relationship make it??
