We all know that most of the people in the Buffy-verse are peachy keen, but they're also only "human" (for the most part.) So what are some of your "favorite" selfish acts commited by the characters in the BTVS verse?

Here's some to get ya'll rolling:

1) The Scoobies bringing back Buffy from the dead despite the dangers of the spell and of possibly bringing her back wrong - and unknowingly taking her away from Heaven/paradise because they couldn't bear the loss of a friend.

2) Xander not telling Buffy that Willow was going to try the spell to get Angel's soul back again because he wanted Angel dead.

3) Buffy using Spike physically for comfort knowing that he loves her and that she can't feel the same for him.

also, another weird side note from me: this really doesn't classify as a "selfish" act per se, but I always felt it was weird that she never even once thought of killing Dawn to save the world, even after it was too late - but she was willing to kill Angel to save the world before and after he got back his soul.

I guess blood runs thicker than...vampire blood. Or something.
Hmm, I don't remember them kicking Buffy out - maybe this is in Season 6 or 7 and I haven't re-watched that ep yet (yaaay! An episode I slightly don't remember!)

I think people were more excluding Xander for what they thought was his own good, it wasn't really selflish of them.

xander has proven more than helpfull to buffy an the gang i think it was selfish of them they don't get to decide , oh and they did ask her to leave her own house all of them x
The Scoobies knowing all about the Initiative but failing to inform poor old Giles.

That wasn't actually selfish. That was just forgetfulness on the part of the Scoobies. More negelct of Giles, really.

Buffy not telling the gang that Angel was back.
Gunn selling out to get his implant updated.

I don't personally consider it selfish but the Scoobies and Joyce did...

..Buffy running away after she killed Angel

a side note to fray's sidenote🙂...I think killing Angel broke something in Buffy that she just didn't have that in her again when it came to Dawn's turn. She didn't have any point of reference for Angel but she did for Dawn, she knew how much it would hurt and couldn't face it again. Add to the fact that her mother, Angel and Riley had all left either through choice or fate and you have one seriously lost girl, more so than season 2 Buffy.

What's interesting though is that come season 6/7 she seems to have regained some of that self belief when she tells Giles she would let Dawn die if she were to do it again (thanks I guess to her newfound knowledge of Paradise and, I believe, her assumtion Dawn would go there).

Yeah, she said she would let Dawn die, but she didn't say she would be the one to kill her. What would she have done? Stood by and watched as Giles smothered her like he did Ben?

Another one I thought of...Willow's 'Thy Will Be Done' spell. She cast it in the hopes of getting Oz back. How much more selfish can ya get!! lol

She wasn't going to let anybody kill Angel either but she did what she had to do. I think season 6/7 Buffy would do the same with Dawn if it was necessary. I'm not saying it wouldn't leave her a wreck but I think she would do it.

I definitely agree on the Giles thing... I think that was probably one of the most selfish acts in either series
Angel not telling Buffy about his being human for a day...and her not ever getting to remember it...just so he could be a super hero vampire....grrrr. I think that in a way this was both selfless and selfish...that Buffy didnt get any say I mean...he just did it...

Xander calling off the wedding to Anya the day of...I mean I know why he did, but I still think it was wrong.

Cordelia's wish! Granted, it didn't exactly work out like she thought it would, but she still wished for selfish reasons.

Didn't she cast it ultimately to make her mourning go faster, not to get Oz back?

Ok, now I can't remember. I'll have to go look it up! lol

Cordelia knowingly staying a bitcha in S1-3ish (obviously she was changing by the end) in order to stay in the popular crowd.

Cordelia talking about Xander's Christmas activities (sleeping outside to avoid his parents' fights.) It was supposed to be a secret and it really says a lot that Xander told Cordelia about that part of his life but not Willow.
