Selfless acts in the Buffy-verse

Alright I was thinking there has been some real selfless acts in the buffy-verse whats your favorite.
 
Two of my favorites have already been mentioned; Spike taking care of Dawn and Xander buying Cordy's prom dress.

There were so many, though, particularly in season 5, when they were all trying to save Dawn. Aside from the obvious, Buffy sacrificing herself, I think almost everyone gave up something for Dawn's benefit. My favorite two have got to be Spike and Tara refusing to tell Glory that Dawn was the key, even though Spike was nearly beaten to death and Tara got her hand crushed and her brain sucked.

yup, those were also wonderful acts of selflessness - there are so many of them in the Buffyverse
Willow giving up going to a big and fancy university in favor of staying with Buffy and help her fighting the big bads.
 
Tara's leaving Willow and refusing to tell Glory were always big ones for me. She never felt a part of the group, yet she virtually gave up her life to save Dawn. Willow was the only person that had ever made her feel good about herself, but she stuck by her beliefs and left her for her own good.

Another small one was Spike's bringing flowers for Joyce. Considering he was an unsouled Vampire at the time, that's pretty impressive.

Right. The flowers. So small, yet it says a lot.
Xander telling Buffy with a smile that it's okay if she wanted to leave him with Willow in the hospital, even though he wanted her with him in Empty Places. I think it was selfless because he knows that there are more important things Buffy needs to take care of than stay with him in the hospital even though he wants her to.
 
Gosh, there are LODAS for me.

Cordelia becoming part demon to keep the visions.
Doyle sacrificing himself so that Angel didn't have to.
Connor allowing Angel to know that he knew the vampire was his father.
Gunn staying the in hell dimension so that they could get Lindsey out.
Illyria pretending to be Fred so that her parents wouldn't be sad.
Xander buying Cordy's Prom dress.
Willow and Xander giving up their Christmas vacation to help Angel, even though both of them have issues.
Xander going to Willow at Kingman's Bluff, and telling her, if she wanted to end the world, she had to start with him.
Spike going back to rescue Xander when Caleb puts his eye out...ok, so that one's really just for me, lol.

And, of course, the obvious ones, Buffy sacrificing herself or Dawn, Spike allowing Glory to torture him because he wouldn't give up Dawn.
 
Giles going against the Council because he knew it was for Buffy's wellbeing. Even though it cost him his job and made him an outcast.
 
Buffy sending Angel to hell to save the world and close the portal, despite knowing he had his soul restored, i think is selfless.

Xander saving Willow. He put himself in the line of fire and wasn't even sure he could stop her, but he was willing to die trying.
 
I think every character had at LEAST one act of selflessness.

What about Anya in the episode "Selfless"? Suprised no one has mentioned that 😛

As others have mentioned, Xander was selfless in buying Cordy that dress. I saw huge character development at that point. plus, so sweet!!

Spike and Tara not telling Glory that Dawn was the key. Spike practically got beaten to death, and Tara lost her sanity...literally. I sometimes feel that those are overlooked in the Buffyverse. Though several have mentioned them in this thread so maybe not 😛
 
Angel killing Darla to save Buffy.

Angel taking back the day in IWRY. (Selfless and very very stupid!)

Doyle dying to save everyone.

Cordy coming back for one day just to help Angel find his way again.
 
Darla staking herself to save Connor.
And of course Cordy becoming part demon in order to keep the visions.

What about Angel giving up being Connor's dad -- even being in Connor's memories -- so that Connor could have a better life with a better family? I have some serious problems with the way he played with everyone else's memories and minds and made a deal with W&H to do it, but I have to admit that the sacrifice there and the loss there were both deeply profound.
 
Angel giving up being human because he knew he could not save the world as well...and sacraficing being with Buffy.

Angel giving up the Ring of Amara because he knew he would get distracted from saving the world.
 
My favs:

Buffy and Spike dying to save the world - big ones are hard to beat...

honorable mentions:
Cordy becoming part demon is pretty huge too
Angel giving Connor a whole new life was very selfless (though why did he mind wipe everyone else too???)

Yeah... I feel like Angel's methods sort of diminish his motives there a little bit.
