senior slideshow music

Two other girls and I are making the senior slideshow for our senior class all-nighter. We want to have songs on it from each year we've been alive. (we're starting it at 1989 since most in our class were born in that year). Since I'm the music junkie, I get the wonderful job of picking out the songs we're using. I've googled the top 50 songs from each year and have picked out the ones I figure most of our class would know/like. The problem is, I dont remember most of the songs before about 1996 with the exception of one or two.

So, I need help finding some. The songs dont have to related to school or growing up, but if they are too inappropriate to be played at school, I'll need to know so I can find an edited version.

Anyone have any suggestions? (I'm basically looking for anything popular from 1989-1996)

Don't really have any idea what people would actually like. Hmm. For 1989...I just think of college alterna-rock...Pop Song 89 (R.E.M.), Here Comes Your Man (The Pixies), Knock Me Down (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Love Shack (B-52's) etc...
