Serenity book for Free Comic Book Day

The Dark Horse panel at NYCC focused more on Buffy season 9 and Angel & Faith, but they did make this comment:

"they are doing a new Serenity/Star Wars flip book for Free Comic Book Day"

How cool is that? Of course, that's quite a ways away, isn't Free Comic Book Day in May or something? I just hope that it's new material, not stuff that's already been published.

Since they're not mentioning more about it, I'm thinking it will be a re-print. I'm only guessing though, I have no idea how these flip books usually work. But it seems like it will be a promotion thing to get new readers, which doesn't technically require new stories.

I very much doubt it will be a reprint.

A flip book means one side of the book will be the cover to a Serenity story (maybe 8-10 pages long) and the other side will be a Star Wars story of the same length.

It'll be canon, since Dark Horse isn't releasing any Jossverse comics without his involvement.

* It takes place after the Serenity movie
* It focuses on Mal, although all or most of the surviving characters will be in it

Skytteflickan88 agrees: A dear old canon questio. Do I dear say anthing about it not necassarily being canon because just because Joss put it out?

Well, anything he does is automatically canon unless he specifically says otherwise. I know Scott Allie has said that Dark Horse isn't interested in doing anything non-canon in the Jossverse anymore.
