I've read Better Days and Those Left Behind, and frankly, they're really not very good... I liked Better Days more than TLB, but... meh

So, what do you guys think?

I liked them all right, though they weren't exactly groundbreaking. Those Left Behind filled in a lot of the spaces between the TV show and the movie that would otherwise have left me scratching my head at the lack of resolution (where did the Blue Hand guys go, etc.)

I would be more entertained by comics which pick up where the movie left off... BUT, the fact that Joss has avoided doing so leaves me hopeful that he hasn't given up hope on another movie.

I've only read "Those Left Behind" and have read about "Better Days" that virtually nothing in the enigmatic Serenityverse is uncovered there, so I think I'm gonna save the money for "Fray" (for now^^)

The crazy one-eyed villain (echoing Xander? XD) in TLB was just ludicrous.

I have a question here, guys. My hubby asked me about the Firefly comics the other day and I had no clue what to tell him. Are the comics canon? If so, which comic series are canon and roughly how many issues are there? I'm considering getting them for him for his b-day at the end of March, but I know nothing about the Firefly comics.

Also, you guys seem kinda down on them. What makes them not so good? Is it the plot? Are the character voices not right? Do you dislike the art?

There have been two miniseries so far..."Those Left Behind" and "Better Days". Both are canon, written by Joss. Both are three issues, and both take place between the end of the TV series and the movie. They are both out in trade paperback form. "Those Left Behind" fills in a lot of the questions that went unanswered in the transition from TV show to movie.

There are other miniseries in development, including one about Shepherd Book that I think was being co-written by Ron Glass.

The art is excellent. I think most of the criticism comes from disappointment that the stories aren't "bigger" - they're pretty much like episodes of the TV series on paper.

I'm on the waitlist for the Firefly comics and the Wolves at the Gate at the library...I'm so behind on the comics it's embarassing lol. I don't have enough time to keep up with all this cool Jossverse stuff!
