Gorammit!! that is so far away!! maybe i can suggest someone to buy me it as a late birthday present? lol, i'll probably get there first!!
thanks for sharing, BEG!

I suspect that if I get any money for Christmas I'll be saving it for this...

As I mentioned on another thread, European customers don't have to wait. You can still order the Region 1 DVD from Amazon on Dec. 20.

So, if you have a Region 1 compatible DVD player, and $16.98, you can get Serenity (full screen or wide screen) much sooner than Feb. 27.

I want to know whats going to be in the European version before I chose, cause so far im going for the Aussie one (has more featurettes).

I think I'm going to buy the Aussie release as well as the US. More features in the Aussie one I heard, and hopefully different cover art. If I didn't have to have it Right. NOW, I might have waited for the Oz release altogether. Thinking about getting the European release, too, any word on the cover art for it?

...any word on the cover art for it?

The cover art looks different at Amazon.com UK. I don't know if this is the final version though.

If it's that white one, with River in the foreground, then yes. That was the poster used at theaters in Europe, Iirc. Pretty cool, imo!

Yup...that's the one. It's a nice piece of work. Kind of subdued...

Interesting how different art work is used to promote movies in different parts of the world. I recall (way back when) some of the posters used for the original Star Wars trilogy. Quite a variety....

US Shafted By Serenity DVD

Hey American Browncoats! Joss Whedon is really pissed off that you whined and tantrumed until Serenity, the movie based on your favorite TV show "Firefly", and then didn't bother to turn out en masse at the box office to support it. How angry is he? He's sending a giant screw you your way by giving the far more financially supportive (by per population anyway) British fans a slightly cooler Serenity DVD.

We don't usually cover DVD news on this site, but this was just too hilarious to pass up. According to Empire Online, Whedon's release of Serenity will be a step better in the UK than in the US. Those of you laughing right now thinking you'll just order it online from Britain need to remember that Europe uses a totally different formatting than the states. You can order as many copies of the European Region 2 DVD, but most of you won't be able to play it in your Region 1 DVD players. Heh.

So, what's so great about the UK version? It will include a 20 minute bonus featurette outlining Whedon's efforts to bring the movie to the screen. Other extras for the Brit release are pending but the package could continue to get better for the European crowd. Americans can expect the regular goodies like extended footage and deleted scenes, but for once Europe is getting the edge.

I mean yeah, more extras in Britain, maybe, but Joss mad at America, that's just a bad attempt at comedy.

So here I am in town, walking past HMV (A Music/DVD/Games shop), And I see a giant poster for serenity in the window, saying released on 27 Feb, and I'm getting excited (Two days to go, Woot!!) So I walk in and go to the DVD floor and whats the first thing in a giant stand when you walk in the door, a stand with Serenity for sale!!! With little stickers saying HMV exclusive early release!!!! I like totally nearly died in excitement, I left the shop immediately and had to go get money!! But I got it, and the Visual Companion, Yey!! What a great day!!

[Whedonesque] Serenity debuts 2nd in UK DVD industry charts.

UK Browncoats just heard the Hit40UK countdown on the radio. It's just behind Wallace and Gromit (which is probably going to win won an Oscar tonight). A strong opening.
