Yay! Finally a new post-Serenity story!

I enjoyed this, I like the set up for the story. It makes sense for were we were after the film.
Loved the Alliance stuff at the start and the hinting at what I presume were more agents like River, which I can't wait for!

It was also a good balance of setting up the story for the first couple of pages and showing enough of the crew that we didn't feel short changed by the issue

Jublal was random, but his character was so awesome in the show. Anyone know what the actor had to do with the comics? He was mentioned in the note at the end as having a big part to play?

There was a lot to process, Janye left the group? It makes sense for his character he wouldn't stick around, but I really wanna know what finally pushed him to leave!

MAL AND INARA!

I dont know how I feel about River being sane now, that seems odd, but will have to see as I love Rivers... Riverisms.

Zoe imagining Wash's death was not cool, why did they have to do that to us?!? Bad enough seeing it in the movie *cries*

Simon and Kaylee are exactly were they should be as characters!

The art for Kaylee and River was pretty bad, and I dont think they got Kaylees quirkiness right in the writing, she felt almost like a caricature of Kaylee with the "gee golly gosh" type stuff, right?

Mal and Inara seemed perfect though, I really heard the characters voices in my head during their bits and especially in their fight!

I thought this first issue was a fairly sober but solid start. The art is functional, the story is already clicking along at a steady pace and it's great to see the crew back again.

As usual with these types of comic book tie-ins, there's a LOT of fan-tickling, nudge-nudge wink-wink "Hey people remember this?!".

That kind of thing irks me a little. But still, better than having no Serenity at all right?

I'll keep reading to see where this goes....

Sober but solid is a fantastic way to describe it, it was wasn't flashing or exciting, but it was a really good base to build on.

What were the wink-wink bits? I'll have to reread (as I always do with the comics) but I was thinking I was surprised they didn't have the word shiny in there!

What's the eta for reprints? Because I didn't manage to get a copy aha so sad. I got the digital version though and I loved this so much 🙂 And the Buffy S10 preview at the back aha, it felt like Christmas 😛

I got the hardcover collection. Very nice. Cheaper than I thought as well. £11.14 including shipping which takes up more than a third of the price. If you enjoyed the earlier Serenity comics you definitely should check this out.
